Studio 110 by Sophia 150333 Report post Posted September 30, 2011 In the Daily Gleaner news, an article explains an agency 'heaven Scent" was busted for having a 15 year old working!!! As the article states, the mother of the year old unlawfully entered the residence of the owner to get her daughter out! The mother faces charges for unlawful entry, but the courts took pitty on her and gave the most minimal charge available for it was a Nobel cause. Not sure if charges have been laid yet, but the charges will be, enticing other in prostitution, endangering a minor, living off the avails! I am shocked that this person would do this! As I did once work for her, never thought she would stoop so low:( It reminds me of how thankful I am to have gotten away from the agency's and work on my own. No ill feeling meant to other agency's, but I find the ones we have around here to be unprofessional and not organized as they always seem to be apart of less desirable work ethics! Just gives this profession a bad name:(
Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted September 30, 2011 Shawn Berry reports for the Times & Transcript, 30 Sept 2011: http://timestranscript.canadaeast.com/news/article/1444218 FREDERICTON - The New Brunswick Court of Appeal has reduced the sentence of a woman who broke into a home operated by a Fredericton escort agency in search of her 15-year-old daughter. The woman, who wasn't named in yesterday's ruling, had her sentence reduced from one year to six months. "If any break and enter can be considered on the 'low end' of the scale, this is it," Justice Richard Bell wrote for the three-judge panel that was unanimous in its decision to vary the woman's sentence. "She was in the course of protecting her minor daughter from danger." The woman was shopping for groceries Dec. 23 when an acquaintance told her that her daughter was living in a downtown Fredericton residence. According to the court ruling, the mother was aware the owner of the residence operated an escort agency known as Heaven Sent Escort Service out of the home in question. The appeals court ruling said the mother stopped her shopping and went directly to the location, knocked at the door and broke in after she saw her daughter's silhouette through a window. Inside, the mother disabled two video cameras and damaged a door. A third person in the house called police. When police arrived, the mother was arrested. Her daughter was also located inside the house. The mother pleaded guilty to the offence of break and enter into a dwelling house and committing mischief. "I would note the appellant initially knocked on the door in order to provide announcement of her arrival and to request entry," Bell said. "Furthermore, there was nothing clandestine about her eventual entry. She did not enter the home with any intent to steal, cause damage or assault anyone. Her intentions appeared to be noble." He said her assertion the residence was home to an escort service wasn't challenged. At sentencing, the mother told the court the owner, a woman in her mid-thirties, lives in Moncton and is normally in Fredericton when the "girls" were working. The mother had previously told the woman to stay away from her daughter. Bell wrote there was no evidence the appellant's daughter was engaged in any prostitution activities. However, he said, the girl is a minor unable to consent to sexual activity, and the Criminal Code provides for charges for the offences of corrupting and luring children who are under 18 years of age, as well as for living off the avails of prostitution and enticing others to engage in prostitution. The court said the fact the mother didn't call police or other authorities to advise she believed her daughter was in danger was an aggravating factor, as was the fact she has a criminal record related to an addiction. "Her guilty plea and the remorse expressed in conjunction with that plea were clearly genuine. Furthermore, I consider the fact she was in the course of protecting her daughter to be a mitigating factor," Bell wrote. "This break and enter is no doubt one of the least serious the courts will be called upon to adjudicate."
