AndyofHalifax 15339 Report post Posted January 2, 2012 Pink Floyd's The Wall is undeniably a masterpiece. As long as you don't mind being a surrogate therapist to Roger Waters that is (and I mostly don't although it bothers me more after repeated listens). But David Gilmour's guitar work transcends Waters' whinging. Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (Live 1980)

AndyofHalifax 15339 Report post Posted January 2, 2012 Sounds like. Two words. Gnarls Barkley! I'm sure everyone has heard this song enough, however, not enough people have read this Malcolm Gladwell article about companies that try to predict hit movies and songs. http://www.gladwell.com/2006/2006_10_16_a_formula.html The computer system in the article correctly predicted that Crazy was going to be a huge hit. Very interesting reading, although it is a few years old now and it would be interesting to follow up and see how successful they have been.

AndyofHalifax 15339 Report post Posted January 3, 2012 Although quite different from my usual listening fare, I have found myself rather enjoying what I've heard from the latest album from Toronto's own "Fucked Up" album. Admittedly, that is a fairly small selection, but I'm definitely willing to endorse this song. Fucked Up - Queen of Hearts

AndyofHalifax 15339 Report post Posted January 4, 2012 Bruce certainly isn't shy to sing about cars, with songs like Cadillac Ranch, Thunder Road, Backstreets and probably a few more. So I suppose that would make it a bad example of a song that could be played on the radio. Warren Zevon - Mr. Bad Example Plus the character in the song steals from the church collection box, which is getting money for nothing, I suppose.
