Dash (No longer a member) 102 Report post Posted October 27, 2008 Hi everyone, first I apologies for the rather sad nature of this post. As some of you know, for sometime now I've been working hard to get someone, who I consider a friend, out of a bad situation. For about 4 months now, a 19 year old girl who has been working under the name of Kathy and Jenny has been trafficked here in Ottawa and sold on an hourly basis to which she only receives a small portion of the funds. She is being kept against her will under threat that if she stops or leaves, that her family back home in Viet Nam will be hurt... A situation that is TOTALLY unacceptable. For sometime, I've provided a place for people in need of all walks of life to escape such situations. That's how we first met. But whoever is currently pulling her strings, has pulled her back in. I'm not a lawyer or a policeman, so all I can do is warm others. Please, if you think that someone is working as an escort against their will, or under dire circumstances... PLEASE refuse to pay and walk away... I know most of you are fantastic, so I guess I'm just echoing what you already know.
Guest S***e Report post Posted October 27, 2008 Hi Dash: I think your efforts are admirable. I'm new to Ottawa from NB, but I've lived in western Canada (Alta. and BC) and this sort of exploitation has been seen out west and from media reports in Toronto as well over the years. I don't know if I will run across this young woman or others in her position, but I will keep your post in mind. You are doing the right thing for sure and I hope she is able to break free from all this with your help. Old Spike
kih 458 Report post Posted October 27, 2008 Very sad story. Where do they advertise so that they can be avoided?
loneskater 25635 Report post Posted October 27, 2008 (edited) Thanks Dash for telling us about it. We here about human trafficking on the news often and I have seen an excellent movie about this a few times and it got to some deep emotions. It kinds of gets to you even more when it hits so close to home. What is even worst is people who stoops to such low, will stop at nothing to keep their lucrative business going and have probably read your post by now. This means she will certainly not be offered under the names Kathy or Jenny anymore. We will certainly keep in mind your excellent advice however I would suggest you do not make anymore info about her public, as it will probably make things even tougher for her and help these low lifes adjust to possible treats to their business. Dash (No longer a member) 102 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Thanks Loneskater for the advice. I'll do as you suggest. It's a helpless feeling but I think in some ways, as long as people know there is an opportunity to get out, that hopefully they will take it when at all possible. These things in my experience are always very complex and deep seeded. I honestly wish CSIS had a team of folks whose sole occupation was the off-the-record elemination of scumbags who did this sort of thing as a case of national security.. But.. alas... Anyways, thanks. Just an FYI and again, I'm impressed at the level of decency CERB users continue to demonstrate. Thank you!
d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 This is the one type of business that police do go after, earlier this year a gang of orientals were broken and several sex slaves identified and freed. The last place you want to be is on top of this girl if this bust goes down.
p22*** 236 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I would call the police Dash... If I was ever being forced or hurt, you call the police... Email me I worked at shelters and with victims units, I have some numbers....
RubJunky 1954 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I think Dummpy meant..." The place you do not want to be is...." Yes in my lifetime, I've witnessed many women who became slaves to the sex trade either by addiction or a pimp. I even freed a girl once doing my humanitarian duty... just never knew what ever happened to her since.
mod 135639 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 The RCMP has been cracking down on these sex slave operations all over Canada. If you have knowledge of this and want to do something then contact them with information.
cat 262460 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 It's important to realize that the authorities in Canada are willing to listen and you can contact them without hesitation. There is a huge demand for these locations and we need to stand up for those that are victimized by this demand. If you need anything, let me know... kih 458 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Dash, As mentioned already; the police will definitly give your complaint particular attention. I found myself in a similar situation last month where a young lady did not want the five O involved. As a result, I ended up driving her back home to her parents out of town. My involvement ended there. Hopefully, she won't be returning under the same circumstances and has escaped the wrath she was under. esoterica 624 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I am heartened by this thread. As with every walk of life, we have strata in every community. I echo the voices of the others who are suggesting that you turn the slave-traders over to the authorities and get some help for the poor girl who is in trouble. Guest f***2f*** Report post Posted October 30, 2008 I also vote for exposure of these scumbags. slavery is detestable. I love the ladies and those who are doing this of their own volition and are not being exploited are one thing....being enslaved is another...no human being should live under these conditions.:x:x

Seymour 3970 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 This situation serves to remind us that there is still a dark element out there and as responsible members of society we should do our part to ensure no one is taken advantage of in this fashion. Further incentive to properly select your dates.

d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 But not everyone would agree with the point of view expressed by Seymour and others in this thread so far. For example, see: http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=28974&postcount=12 I think this is not a black and white issue, there is clearly a criminal element to any illegal activities and the prostitution portion of our criminal code does keep a criminal element involved in this business. However it is disgusting to me the way that the media blends it all under one roof. It is all branded degrading and immoral, there is no difference in the eyes of the media. There are so many different levels and styles of sex trade it is strange that it all goes into one pile, it is like comparing a new car dealer to a chop shop dealing in stolen car parts and putting them both in the same category (I do apologize for the comparison however it was the best at the spur of the moment don't mean to down grade human life to = cars) I think you get my message? The media could stand to have a better grasp of the sex industry, how is a cam girl any different than a sex slave? to you and I they are worlds apart but to the media it is one in the same corrupt sex trade taking advantage of women. Gogetter 100 Report post Posted November 1, 2008 Dude It seems to me that discretion is the better part of valour. In future go strait to the cops....probably RCMP. If her handlers keep tabs on the escort community in this city you may have brought to her much trouble.
