Jabba 18389 Report post Posted December 29, 2011 A fashion statement? Who the hell wears a cape these days without attracting attention. A cape is handy for anyone who needs to cover a major boner or camel toe. Personally, I think a cape is a hold-over from Victorian values. Back in the early day - a cape represents a flourish of class & mistery without much of a costume change For both super guys and super chicks! Super Man Super Girl (why not Super Woman?) BatMan Wonder Woman Martian Manhunter Rocket Robin Hood Who did I miss?

castle 38816 Report post Posted December 30, 2011 And let's not forget about the cape substitutes Often in movies....if the director or whoever wants the heroic figure to give off a subtle "Cape" impression without actually wearing a cape other articles of clothing will be used as a substitute. Usually trench coats A couple of my favorite examples Tombstone - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWGp7A3j6FQ The Crow - And a little less subtle, the rain coat belonging to David Dunn (Bruce Willis) in Unbreakable also doubles as a superhero costume/cape of sorts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15AdI5Lv23M&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDM9Et99lUA (this is actually one of my all time favorite movies.....the tension just draws you in so perfectly....and every performance in this movie is spot on....the music is excellent....it's just one of those movies where everything works) And let's not forget the Man With No Name's poncho, which also pulls double duty as a cape of sorts

Noooo, nononononono. The cape is the acid test of superheroism. If you can't handle your cape properly (or sort it out when you fail to), you're obviously not a proper superhero :)
