Guest NYC11 Report post Posted November 9, 2008 Hi all, Wanted to see if there was view amongst the group about certain hotels being more SP-friendly than others? Have heard that the Westin is not great and requires a card for elevator use. What about the Fairmont Chateau Laurier or the Embassy Suites? Thoughts? caveman 147 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 I don't know about the Chateau Laurier, but I've been to the Marriott (Kent & Queen) without any problems. The room was pretty nice as well.
caveman 147 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 Actually, there was some discussion about this earlier today in another thread: http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=6170#post29774
Seymour 3970 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 The only ones I've encountered requiring card access to ride the elevator were the Westin and one other on Cooper St (and I can't remember the name). The Delta required card access above a certain floor. The following were quite accessible: Albert at Bay Suite Hotel Bostonian Executive Suites Capital Hill Hotel & Suites Cartier Place Suite Hotel Chimo Hotel - St Laurent Crowne Plaza Ottawa Hotel Delta Ottawa Hotel & Suites Extended Stay Deluxe Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Les Suites Hotel Monterey Inn Resort Ottawa Marriott Quality Hotel Ottawa Downtown The Radisson Ottawa Ramada Plaza Manoir Du Casino -Gatineau Personally, I can't hobby at the Chateau Laurier - too many business meetings there but I believe it is friendly. I have a story about two colleagues who disappeared for an hour while our meeting was in progress - horny little buggers.
spud271 47779 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 I actually met up with an SP at the Arc Hotel one night. It was very accessible and the staff were friendly. You did not need a swipe card to use the elevator there.
kih 458 Report post Posted November 10, 2008 Certain floors at the Crowne Plaza somtimes require Card access.
ulixestrojan 3757 Report post Posted November 11, 2008 Most hotels are hobby friendly - they would miss a SIGNIFICANT part of their business if they were not. Between affairs and professionals, we have about 22% of paid hotel biz.
Le Queutard 100 Report post Posted November 11, 2008 Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata requires a card for each and every floor. Too bad as it's a very nice hotel.

I certainly dont remember that question on the check-out form.

d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted November 17, 2008 Nor do I Kubrickfan. Very curious as to how they ever came with that number? The hotel industry is obsessed with statistics, they can tell you how many people pee in the pool and the average number of guests taking the stairs vs the elevator. It is astounding, however in that business they need to fully understand the numbers to control the costs. Everything is understood right down to how many little bars of soap they will need for any given month.
Akhenaton 221 Report post Posted November 17, 2008 I would not be surprised to learn that the maids actually put a check besides "condom or other sexual consummables found" and then cross reference the room number with the lenght of the stay, voila ! affairs for sure (short stays, "evidence" found), or hobby (longer stay, a few days, many pieces of "evidence" found), better yet, rooms with evidence and a "high number" of door actions (that charming electronic door lock...) So, they probably have good stats, in fact probably on the low side...
Guest S****tha Ott*wa Report post Posted November 21, 2008 Hello all, To add to this topic of hotels I cam curious about parking. Will a cl keep driving if the parking is tough to find? what hotels are best for location and parking? I have enjoyed the Extend stay & embassy suites, other then parking they are great. Les Suites downtown, some floors require keys and the place is somewhat tricky to find the elevator. this will be the next decision for monday :-)
cat 262460 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 I used the Elgin St area hotels for a bit, and the parking is a mess. Guests will eventually find somewhere to park, but they will be late and it will throw the schedule off. I really like Albert at Bay. Great people, great parking... Normally they ask the name of a guest,(if they need to ask) but a room number...extremely nosy if you ask me. Hobbyists - always good to have a story if required, yes, "I'm visiting my friend Veronica " ...../.
YoungStud 468 Report post Posted November 21, 2008 There is a "pay as you go" lot "kitty-corner" to the Extended Stay. Reasonable rates, pretty big lot. The ES is very popular with escorts and hobbyists alike. Personally, I don't mind paying a few bucks for parking on a $180.00 - $250.00 date. :? Though more often than not, I'm a daytime or early evening, rather than a late customer. So don't know how badly things become for parking in the Elgin/Cartier area after 10 p.m. Hello all, To add to this topic of hotels I cam curious about parking. d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted November 23, 2008 I like the hotels attached to public underground parking like the Minto suites, Also a decent down town lot is the World Exchange plaza for the hotels around Slater and Albert between Bank and Elgin. I am alright with $5-10 parking.
spud271 47779 Report post Posted November 23, 2008 I agree dummpy, much prefer an underground lot at the hotel if possible. Not a big fan of driving around the Elgin area for 20 minutes trying to find a damn spot! Plus I find the hotels in the Elgin area aren't as nice as some of the ones in the actual downtown core. ulixestrojan 3757 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 I love hotels that have valet parking - nothing like pulling up, getting the groove on and then have someone bring you your car for a fiver. Wink and smile - no fuss and no muss.
