Guest S****_Up Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Would anyone be interested in splitting the rent on a bachelor's pad that we could all then use for outcalls? Rent on a bachelor split 5 ways would only be $200 to $250 a month. This would be a lot more convenient, not to mention less expensive than renting rooms by the day, and we can permanently outfit the place with all kinds of little luxuries that make a place feel more like home. Professional cleaners would be a nice addition too. While we're at it, maybe we bring in a professional decorator, unless one of the group happens to have good taste. There's other possibilities too, like throwing parties once in a while, or poker nights ... =fastlayn=

PistolPete 61421 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 Yes it is a great idea...but remember, are you willing to put your name on the lease for a 1 year term, do you have quality individuals that would continue pay their share. Believe me, this question has been poked around, but myself...I would sooner get a 2 bedroom as oppose to a bachelor, reason- use it TWICE as often:mrgreen:
kih 458 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 One way to avoid a long term lease is to look for sublets. Credit and background checks may not be as extensive. Additionally, I heard some slum lords are now completing criminal record checks. A form of neighborhood cleansing.
Guest i***k*** Report post Posted November 15, 2008 haha! an excellent idea but I'd agree with PistolPete. I'd have a difficult time disclosing some of my details at this point, especially put my name down on a legal contract of any type. I am contemplating buying a condo in the city (I live in the country) so I can spend time in town when I like, but I haven't gone to far with that idea yet. d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 I kick this idea around from time to time, it is tricky as Pete mentions because of scale and familiarity. For me it is not more than 2 or three out calls a month so hotwire.com is about the same as $200/month and no worrying about furnishings cleaning and who is paying for what. Now I think there is room in this town for a new kind of hotel, like the ones in Montreal that rent for 4 hour time slots and have stripper polls and glass walled showers and hot tub jacuzzies !! Maybe even a dungeon room or two hmmmm. Any investors out there?
PistolPete 61421 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 The issue is would it fly here in Ottawa?...We are very conservative city, so I may have my doubts. Montreal is a city I tend to believe is more open or closes a blind eye to it (re- behind closed doors business with an SP) and then we are dealing with huge population difference. But you are bang on about the hotwire.com. I kick this idea around from time to time, it is tricky as Pete mentions because of scale and familiarity. d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 There are at least 10 such places in Montreal, I think that our population could support one? However in the mean time cheap online hotels are more than adequate for me, it does mean that the poker night has to be in the same 24 hour period as the pock her play!! That's about the same amount of hobbying I do too, sometimes a little more or less. Are you able to find places that let you reserve/pay without a credit card, or do you use a private hobby-only card? Haven't done that yet, but that's another option to consider. PM me if you are interested.

Seymour 3970 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 The concept is good however there is reality to consider: discretion - how well do you know your business partners? scheduling (your own, your partners, the dates that you intend on inviting) and how these all line up. payment - who places their name on the lease - how do you accept payment form your business partners - when, what form etc. housekeeping - who cleans, when, how often etc. WAIT - sound like a relationship with a significant other - wait, on second thought I'll stick to my diet Pepsi and hotwire.com and if I want to play poker, Casino du Lac Leamy - if I want to play poke her, then it's the Hilton for me. d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 That's about the same amount of hobbying I do too. Do you use a hobby-only credit card to book/pay for the rooms? This is another option to consider. That is not the extent of my hobbying, I just prefer in calls, and yes I have a hobby only credit card. It is also very useful for purchasing gifts (http://www.wickedweasel.com for selfish me gifts, http://www.guess.ca for her) and doing diners and lunches.
