shokcandy 100 Report post Posted January 25, 2012 does anyone know if the caberat on Bank is still open? I drove by several times within the last few weeks and it seems to be shut down.
ngtime 560 Report post Posted January 26, 2012 What with the homicide of one of the dancers at the adjacent motel last year, never seems to be many patrons here. Possibly the next place to shut its doors, a natural evolution of the demise of strip cubs in Ottawa-Gatineau. Sure a few will remain maybe a handful or so, as dancers can switch to other venues like MA and SP and so do their clients.
daredevil8888 407 Report post Posted January 29, 2012 A couple years ago I thought Cabaret Canada was going to turn around. I saw the afternoon DJ from Barb's there, and thought he might be part of the winning team. I did not go there enough to see if there was any short term gains. I wonder if one of Ottawa's clubs was known more for a Burlesque type show if it would help get a loyal set of customers? I was looking for a burlesque show a while back and all the links here in Ottawa appear to be to stale sites.
ngtime 560 Report post Posted February 1, 2013 I will try to be objective here because I know that negative comments are not welcomed . But what's going on here? Dropped by at 3PM on a Friday, walked in no dancers, just the barmaid; who should be familiar to anyone who has visited this place. I think she's the owners wife. well into her senior years, well enough said. She was kind of inquisitive of my personal affairs, rambling on. I guzzled my beer and was out of there in five minutes. Is this place actually still operating as a SC? The signage has all but disappeared too.
Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted February 1, 2013 Used to be not such a bad place 10 - 12 years ago. I made good friends there among them Foxy (now Porsha at Nu Den) who was a sweet 19 year old blonde doll. The place was packed with customers Friday nights even Saturday afternoons. They started treating dancers badly. Hit them with heavy fines for no reason, among other requests that I cannot mention here. They lost the good dancers and then their customers. It is their own doing. I boycotted then 10 years go when I found out about all these from my friend dancers. I guess many others did too.
Guest *l**e Report post Posted February 2, 2013 the following is a list of all the positive things that I have to say about this club and its owner. Thank you
BarrhavenWoody 10776 Report post Posted February 2, 2013 I've been there many times and have met some nice ladies over the years. However, some of the things I've seen and heard just leave me shaking my head in disbelief. Like any other SC, I only go for the ladies, not to chat with owners and management. mike9876 937 Report post Posted February 2, 2013 I walked in there late one night about 6 months ago. The same barmaid opened a Bud Light for me but didn't have change for my $20. I told her I had change in the car. I'm still looking for it...
owly 141 Report post Posted February 2, 2013 I heard a rumour it may soon be under new and better management. So maybe the old/current owner has stopped trying. Be patient boys, better days may be ahead for the Caberat
ngtime 560 Report post Posted February 2, 2013 There is a new restaurant downstairs, when I pulled up I thought that the SC was gone. I cannot see another SC opening up, if anything the heydays of SC's are over as more and more disappear from the landscape. I have never seen more than five patrons there the last few times. whiteman 14028 Report post Posted February 5, 2013 There is a new restaurant downstairs, when I pulled up I thought that the SC was gone. I cannot see another SC opening up, if anything the heydays of SC's are over as more and more disappear from the landscape. I have never seen more than five patrons there the last few times. I think so too, who remembers topless and gogo bars anymore? They got killed by full-on stripclubs. Now it's the stripclubs' turn, being killed by the Internet. If you want to just see some naked girls, why even leave your home with a high-speed connection? :D Stripclubs could survive if they evolve to allow a bit more interactivity with the dancers (dancers would have to cooperate too). I was talking to a dancer from the Playmate the other day, she says it's nothing like it was several years ago. She's making a quarter of what she used to and has to offer extras at home nowadays. ngtime 560 Report post Posted February 6, 2013 The SC has faced stiffer competition from MA's etc. Their popularity is waning, reason for all the closures, not only in Ottawa but it happened in Montreal too. many of the gals have become MA's.
owly 141 Report post Posted February 17, 2013 I have heard from a reliable source that the club willl change owner on March 15 and keep operating. There will be grand re-opening later in the spring
aneye4it 425 Report post Posted April 22, 2013 I dropped in this week, new owners took over and the place re opened mid week. went Thursday night 6 or 7 dancers one was nearly touching the rafters with legs to her arm pits. Dropped in tonight very quiet, one other guy, but the bartender told me it's the first time they have ever been open on a Sunday. Played some pool and met Ivy another very very tall lady probably over 6' she is 6 and a half in her shoes. (I am 6'4") played some pool and got a few dances, those legs put everything at exactly the right height! And her ass was amazing, well she was amazing. Time will tell but everyone seemed very positive.
Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 (edited) Strip bars are businesses of the past. With Escorts and masseuses so readily available at less expensive prices and much higher mileage the days of crowded strip clubs is over by a long shot and that comes from a dozen years veteran of strip bars from 1995 to 2008 who switched to escorts in 2008. Check in well known Ottawa strip bars like barbarellas and Playmates and compare the crowd with what it used to be a decade ago when the only alternative was to pick the pictureless and unknown ads from the Sun. Cabaret Canada has a long history of financial and sexual exploitation of innocent dancers as per my earlier post in this thread, Until such time that it is proven a clear change from the past (old or new management or whatever name they want to call it) I personally would avoid it like a plague. Not to mention the long commute for Ottawa residents. Edited April 26, 2013 by Capital Hunter
canuckhooker 19203 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 There has been a complete change of management there, and if you had read some other threads about this place you would know that. It is making a change for the better, but has only been open under the new owners for less than two weeks.
Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I am aware of the change of management. I am not aware of the change!!!!.

Capital Hunter 18263 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Please don't pick a part of my comment concentrating on the Sun but rather the whole which clearly says a decade ago. Were you advertising there a decade ago?. If you were then I go back and edit it the way it was meant and that was the fact that there was no sites like cerb and EC with pictures and reviews to pick the desires but from the pictureless and unknown ads in the Sun and it was a lot risky. I go back and edit that part anyways.
Old Dog 179138 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Mark Twain Strip clubs are NOT going away, at least in the immediate future. The argument that money could be spent with escorts or massage works HERE on CERB, not there in the real world. I'm pulling this out of my butt, but I would say that probably 90% of the guys that go into a strip club stop there. That's the extent of their naughty fun. They sit in perverts row, have a few beers, MAYBE get a couple of CR dances and go home to their wives... and they do that BECAUSE they can't get past that mental block of physical "cheating." You can get away with a strip club in terms of GUILT... and as long as the outlet to see naked women exists, men will keep going. The internet is like playboy or porn on the big screen - it's exciting but it's not IN YOUR FACE exciting. Locations may come and go... but the death knell for the industry is far from being rung.
ngtime 560 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Kind of like Jumbo Video. Most of the video rental shops are gone, however there still is a market, only smaller. That last visit to Cabaret kind of did it for me, and I assume many others as these places are fewer in numbers. Not only in Ottawa, but in Montreal too. Ironically the lapdance did them in. Lapdances were becoming more liberal all the time. So what the client asks himself if this is going on and it's starting to cost me over $100, why not visit an MA? It's cleaner, more discreet and I leave satisfied. And there is the risk factor too, there have been shootings at three clubs, a fire at another one etc. The massage parlor at least the licensed ones are a safer, more discreet and more satisfying environment,

ngtime 560 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Ultimately there will remain a few, there is still a market, although much smaller. kind of like video stores Jumbo Video thrives, but gone are Blockbuster, Rogers, and many of the smaller independents. On the other hand the MA and SP business is booming!
Eric Northman 16522 Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I guess I don't understand strip clubs myself. Even before I discovered escorts I didn't really see the point. Now keep in mind, you can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've been so maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. It seems VERY expensive to go to the CR for what you get in my opinion. I guess if you're trying to not cross some imaginary line between cheating and not cheating it makes sense but it seems a high price to pay just to give yourself a case of the blue balls. There also seems to be a pretty serious YMMV factor at work too. I see a ton of posts talking about 'mileage' which implies that you never know what you're going to get in the CR. Perhaps some of you strip club experts can enlighten me as to why I would spend my money there instead of with an SP or MA?

Now keep in mind, you can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've been so maybe I just haven't figured it out yet. Well, I'm a stripclub fan as well as a massage fan, and the same questions get asked about both activities by fans of SP's. SP fans can't understand why you would ever go to massage, if you can go to an escort. And massage and SP fans can't understand why you would go to a stripclub. The answer is that each kind of activity is what you can make out of it. There is more service available at each of these activities than you assume. Also at a stripclub, you can find many different girls all in one place, and you get a chance to try as many or as few of them as you like, but you have the choice to pick and choose. Me? My method is to see a girl for usually no more than two or three dances, and move onto the next worthy one. It satisfies my need for extreme variety.
