loopie 15358 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 KONTROLL This is a very original movie that manages to make lots of different tones work together. It's at times scary, other times really funny, and also touching and thoughtful. It's got that 90s techno flair like RUN LOLA RUN or TRAINSPOTTING that really appeals to me. UN PROPHETE This is a good classically told prison drama. Great acting, very engaging. HEAVENLY CREATURES This is one of my favorite films of the 90s. Most films about this type of subject matter would probably tell this story from the perspective of some cop or lawyer guy after the fact, but this one puts you in the minds of these girls with an obsessive friendship that goes too far. It's very effective in capturing their mindset without excusing their crime.
iluvmuffins 1764 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 From these three I've mentioned here, you may see a common theme of the type of movie that appeals to me. I believe them all to be very under-rated. Heat with Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Val Kilmer. To Live and Die in LA, with William Peterson, Willem Dafoe (superb actor), and John Pankow. Se7en, with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt.
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted February 10, 2012 Another movie, probably underrated, is this one If you can get past the fact it isn't even close to being historically accurate (for those who have seen it, you know what I'm talking about) and there are subtitles for the first 15 minutes or so of the film, it is, for those liking war movies, and some violence, entertaining...you even get to see the top Nazi leaders crying RG
oldblueeyez 15475 Report post Posted February 11, 2012 se7en scared the hell out of me! Here's an excellent German trio: All are excellent! Away from Her is nice. Kind of ironic that he cheated on her many times, but after time, learned that he really loved her and stayed with her, and then, in the end, time takes her away from him.
Guest jake_cdn Report post Posted February 11, 2012 This one caught me by surprise. Watched it out of shere boredom. Never a big fan of Jude Law. Good movie worth spending the time to watch.
loopie 15358 Report post Posted February 12, 2012 A FACE IN THE CROWD This one was a bit ahead of its time and so it never really got the respect it deserved. By the time NETWORK came out people were ready for this type of media satire film. Andy Griffith gives a great performance as a sociopathic media personality but he just didn't get any recognition for it and so he's most famous for playing Matlock. roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted February 12, 2012 One I haven't seen in years, should go out and get the dvd and give it a look again another movie, well don't know if underrated or not is this one. If anything, it shows off Vincent D'Onofrio's acting skills (for those who don't know, he plays Detective Goren on Law and Order CI) In this movie he played Private Pyle RG
Old Dog 179138 Report post Posted February 12, 2012 One of the greatest films to come out of Australia, a film about the sacrifice of three Australian soldiers to injustice and political intrigue... an absolutely brilliant film.... and another Australian classic about the misuse of commonwealth troops by their British commanders... this time during WW1.... (oh and featuring a very young Mel Gibson...)
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted February 12, 2012 Here's one I just remembered Story about a group of mercenaries hired to go into Africa, then double crossed by the man who hired them RG
castle 38816 Report post Posted February 12, 2012 Probably one of the best Clint Eastwood westerns IMO. And the first western directed by Clint Eastwood. But not a lot of people know about it. It gets downright spooky by the end, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOLnb7BrMC8, a western with a slight supernatural twist.

Another, probably less known but good Clint Eastwood movies Clint plays a cop escorting a witness Sondra Locke (a prostitute) from Las Vegas to Phoenix, where all cops and the mob, plus a run in with some bikers to boot, out to kill them both RG

Old Dog 179138 Report post Posted February 13, 2012 A great film... an amazing story and compelling... one of the little unknown films that needs to be seen... Another one about misused troops... better known as "Days of Glory". It was nominated for the best foreign picture Oscar in 2007
ostirch 1668 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 Without a doubt, in my mind, Fateless. Amazing, every scene can be seen and understood separately without any knowledge of the plot... loopie 15358 Report post Posted February 15, 2012 LA SCIENCE DES REVES This is a very cutsie movie full of arts 'n crafts fun. It's about a young man with an over-active imagination. I sort of think of it as Calvin 'n Hobbes when Calvin grew up but never really became a functioning adult.

castle 38816 Report post Posted February 18, 2012 Probably one of my favorite Bruce Willis movies. Doesn't get a lot of attention. Bruce Willis is at his surly tough guy best in this one. The thing I like about it is how very real the "hero's" home life feels in this movie. Complete with all the flaws any family has. And the interactions between Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans in this movie are pure gold. This movie is also a big departure from the Damon Wayans "funny guy" persona most of us know. And I especially love the ever necessary "romantic scene" at the end of this movie. Probably one of the more unique ones I've seen lol....see for yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnbyUpK3iPM
