Google's new privacy (not) rules

Recommended Posts

Google has been thoroughly chastised by me regarding this issue. I have striped my accounts down to nothing, paused web history, and I sent them nasty but useless feedback regarding their privacy policies.

However, it is suspected that if you you use .ca and not .com there is a difference. Having my ear to the track I have heard rumours that Harper is looking into this. I find that odd after pulling the Big Brother C-30 fiasco, but perhaps it's damage control?

This happened with Facebook a couple of years ago when they changed something and our govt stepped in. Maybe this time they will too.

I'm too lazy to send feedback, but denying them their data is the nastiest thing you can do to them - that's their lifeblood! So obviously I do that too.

The other thing you can do is kill off their cookies as often as possible - they use those to track you as a unique user even if you're not logged in. I hae my browsers set up to delete all cookies on exit.. The downside of this is that you have to log into everything again every time you do this, but I can live with that.

I have it set to delete everything when my browser closes. I have for a very long time.

Its a pain, but....
