backrubman 64800 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 I hate tapatalk. They no longer have a free version.... The thing nags every time... And they constantly pull it on us from the search engine. But it sure beats a mobile browser on a phone which is like trying to play tennis in a closet. Also handy if in a strange city and need to PM a lady to prove it is you (or at least prove it is someone that can log into CERB as you).
mod 135640 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 So I did a little research. The following (Chart Below) tells me that roughly 5.5 percent of cerb users use the mobile system. So far this month that accounts for 3866 member visits by cell phone (excluding any ipad/iphone users who set the settings to identity a browser as firefox/safari) Out of those 3866 visitors 857 were tapatalk visits (I have a counter for that specifically) ... So... Just shy of 10% of all mobile visits use tapatalk This is higher then I expected! 10% is a lot and 857 tapatalk visits in 8 days is over 100 per day so maintaining it is a must. I will continue to try to keep it listed and running. MS Internet Explorer 36.5 % Firefox 28.4 % Safari 17.4 % Google Chrome 11.7 % Android browser (PDA/Phone browser) 2.5 % Opera 1.3 % Mozilla 0.4 % BlackBerry (PDA/Phone browser) 0.4 % LG (PDA/Phone browser) 0.3 % IPhone (PDA/Phone browser) 0.2 % Others 0.4 %
mod 135640 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 Follow up. New rules on tapatalk... This is what it says... We periodically delete forums with objectionable content that is accessible from Tapatalk Network Directory. Check this box to declare your forum contains such content and your members will need to enter at least 9 characters to lookup your forums from Tapatalk Directory. It is in the >Entertainment>Nightlife directory and you need to enter 9 characters so enter "www.cerb.ca" and hopefully that works (I will try it later with my tapatalk account when I get home)
backrubman 64800 Report post Posted June 8, 2012 It is in the >Entertainment>Nightlife directory and you need to enter 9 characters so enter "www.cerb.ca" and hopefully that works (I will try it later with my tapatalk account when I get home) No, that doesn't work but the official listing seems to be "CERB - Canadian Escort Recommendation Board" so a search for more than 9 characters (my search was "Canadian Escort" and worked!!! and brought up CERB as the only result found). Out of those 3866 visitors 857 were tapatalk visits (I have a counter for that specifically) ... So... Actually, although it's only what you find above it is worthy of mention that 99% of my access to CERB is from a regular, standard, full size browser but when I do access CERB via TapaTalk I need it (e.g. not near a computer I can trust and need to send a PM), etc. So my point is that likely the number of accesses with Tapatalk on mobile represents a much larger portion of users than the simple numbers would tend to indicate as probably no one uses it exclusively and in fact, only when they have to. Areez 11906 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Anyone having issue with tapatalk today? Ex. Only the latest topic is displayed, Nothing on the Forum display or PM at all :) Any thought(s)? - did reinstalled it to the latest version....
Guest Ou**or**n Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Yep, seems Tapatalk isn't happy. I can read posts in the Topics view but the Forums view isn't working properly. The PM's are not working at all. This is happening on both my iPhone and iPad HD versions. I use Tapatalk a lot. At work I use the iPhone version as my work would take a dim view of me accessing CERB through yee ole corporate network. At home I prefer the iPad HD Tapatalk to even a regular computer browser. In landscape mode the topic list (with two line previews) are on your left and when you select one the thread opens on the right while still maintaining the topic list on the left. But then it seems to work "somewhat" if you are persistent but no access to PMs, etc.

mod 135640 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 I uploaded the latest version..... Still not working. Tapatalk no longer offers a free version either (at least not for iphone/ipad) and that pisses me off. When i started with tapatalk it was a free basic version and a paid full version. Now the free option is one and we continue to have issues. I think i am done with tapatalk.
bcguy42 38594 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 Yup. Starting yesterday afternoon, I get a message on my BB version that says "It seems you are having trouble connecting. Please try all the options under 'Set Default Network Type' until you find one that works for you. Please contact [email protected] if you are still having trouble connecting." Auto, MDS, BIS-B, WAP2, Default TCP, and TCP Cellular all fail with the same message. Those are all the available options. I am using Tapatalk 1.4.7.7. Just for grins and giggles, I've sent a query to the email address supplied. I'll let you know if and when I receive a reply.

It would be sad to see you drop it over a couple of technical issues that I'm sure all many other Tapatalk sites must be having.
mikkismitty 197 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 Tapatalk not working for me either. Is this an issue that is fixable? It posts a message that the site is not compatible or has been restricted. Contact site administrator. What is up?
mod 135640 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 I have turned it off at this time. I don't have the time right now to fix it (AGAIN) as it seams to break once a month! It's a nightmare. I want to adjust it so that it works for those of you who have it but does not PROMPT new users to download it. If that is possible I will turn it back on once I figure out why it is not working this time.

You probably have no idea how much we appreciate your efforts and also have an real appreciation for the demands on your time (and let's not forget all the undeserved negative energy that gets thrown at you from time to time). Tapatalk is a valuable service (as sometimes I find myself stuck in a strange city and the lady wants a PM to verify and no laptop) but just the same there has to be a clear business case for keeping it going if it is causing you that much trouble... it may be more trouble than it is worth. We understand and appreciate your efforts and as for the seemingly thankless job: Thanks! Muchas gracias! Merci beaucoup.
r100rs 859 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 very understandable that you can't support a product that needs so much support . Although I too bought tapatalk solely to access Cerb ... it is really not a big deal - ... i will forego half a coffee tomorrow to offset my huge investment. Meg O'Ryan 266444 Report post Posted July 18, 2012 While tapatalk was convenient I always found myself using the full version on my browser so if it's gone no great loss.

I received a response from Tapatalk. "Hello, So, this problem just started yesterday? Can you provide me a login so I can so [sic] what's going on? Thanks, Julio" And that, I think, ends my interest in getting a solution from Tapatalk. I have no interest - on a lot of grounds - in providing my login to anyone, let along a support geek who does not properly identify himself, cannot put together a proper sentence, and who seems to think these problems just started yesterday. I'm going back to the browser version of CERB on my BB.
