I have contacted my phone company and They cant do nothing unfortunaly because the system doesnt use MY line but internet system... They suggest me to ask for investigation and says it would be easy to find the origin of the call. So, I have informed girls about the situation for not wasting their time. Hope it wont happen again. So sorry to hear of this SexxxyRebecca, what a cowardly thing to do and to what end? Yeah, so there are a few services that allow people to fake caller id, probably shouldn't be allowed but I thought they only allowed faking the number and left the name blank (haven't tried them, no reason to, think they are dumb). Those aside, most modern business phone systems of any size allow not only the number but also the name to be set up. In the early days the phone companies would allow only numbers assigned to you (but any name) but this got to be too much work for them so now they let anything pass without question. While most people don't have access to such a system, lots of companies are very lackadaisical (lazy) about security which results in the occasional criminal being able to have access to this ability. When that happens the company or business is at fault but also a victim and may have thousands of lines so tracing such a call isn't necessarily easy at all. I always cringe a bit when I see a lady advertise "no blocked calls" as I know I could reprogram my phone system temporarily and call her from any name/number I desired. Fortunately I'm one of the good guys and call with my real name and number but it was only a matter of time I guess. Obviously not your fault SexxxyRebecca. 99.9% of the time the caller id is correct which makes it too easy to trust when you really can't. It used to be called a "myth" that you could really fake caller id (including the name as well as the number) but anyone that wants to PM me their number along with the name and number they would like to "appear" to call them and a good time to call, as long as they promise to come back here and post "OK, it's true", I'll do it to prove it if I have to. Can't trust your eyes when it comes to caller id anymore. Technology brings us so much both good and bad. I sit in my Ottawa hotel room and answer my office line from a couple thousand miles away over the hotel internet. I'll never forget the first time a friend called and said "Oh great, your home, I'm coming right over" -- "No, I'm in Ottawa a thousand miles away from home at this time (as I often am) and right now taking a walk up on Parliament Hill watching those huge squirrels :) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
