roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted April 14, 2012 Tragic news, and by the sounds of it, completely unnecessary. The police were there to help, not to make a bad situation worse. RG
Phaedrus 209521 Report post Posted April 15, 2012 This really is tragic, and completely unnecessary. I don't want to hijack the thread, but I can't help wondering how many people are going to have to be killed with tasers before the powers that be work out that the 'non-lethal' marketing is an absolute lie.

Carrie Moon 68826 Report post Posted April 15, 2012 Thanks.. I'm still weeping today on and off.. it's so sad. But I agree with Phaedrus. I only hope this draws some awareness not only to mental illness issues but the tasing laws.

I only hope this draws some awareness not only to mental illness issues but the tasing laws. I'm a big fan of tasers and believe some lives have been saved BUT only when the only alternative is the use of lethal force. It appears at this point that use of lethal force wasn't required, hopefully his loss will have some meaning in that it will change the way the police are allowed to act. We have seen this before at the Vancouver airport, enough is enough. Tasers can be lethal and should only be used when definitely lethal force would otherwise have to be used. My sincere condolences on the loss of your friend Carrie.

SamanthaEvans 166767 Report post Posted April 16, 2012 What a sad story! I'm sorry for your loss, Carrie. Since you have so much respect for him, I'm sure he was a terrific guy. As for tasers... I'm not a supporter. They look like one more example of what happens when some people are given a hammer and start believing that there are so many nails around them.
