fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted April 17, 2012 Does he really think Toronto is the best place to get the kind of rates the Bunny Ranch claims to charge? I think part of his investigation might reveal that TO has amongst the lower rates for sps and so the clients will have a lower rate expectation, even in fancy surroundings. (not saying the rates are super low, just that if 250-300/hr is topping the higher rate now charged, then expectations of $2000 usually suggested on the show isn't very likely).

canuckhooker 19203 Report post Posted April 19, 2012 It is cheap grandstanding and will do more harm than good IMHO. I know that we would love to see the government and Canadians at large embrace the idea of brothels and the decriminalization of sex-work, but we shouldn't be as naive to think that it will happen. There are ways to get around the recent court rulings, such as an out-right ban, or outlawing prostitution. The best way for this to become the norm is slowly, and quietly. If someone like Hof makes waves, then the opponents will get active and there will be a real fight to make this right. Some politicians and civic leaders don't like this, but by the same token don't want to debate it publicly. It will cost them votes no matter how they handle it. They will let it slide if nothing major happens. If someone forces them to take action, gets in the press, etc. after some stunt like this, then they will, and we will lose. If you are old enough to remember the Body Rub scandals in Toronto in the late 70's early 80's, there was a proliferation of these places all over the downtown, particularly on Yonge Street. The police and civic leaders were letting them slide until there was the murder of a young boy (Emanuelle Jacques, if memory serves) that was tied to people who ran one of the parlors. Once that hit the press that gave the opponents the ammunition they needed to shut them down. That is not to say that murder and what Hof are doing is comparable, except when it comes to shedding unfavorable light that will make this whole transition much more difficult.
