mrrnice2 157005 Report post Posted August 27, 2012 We have not met but I have been following your progress on this since the start and simply want to wish you the best of luck. I am still amazed with your positive attitude and how you can laugh with yourself at this. These are two things I admire you for. Good luck to you. theliquor (Lost but not fo 50595 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 Well it had to happen, chunks of my thick head of hair were falling out due to the chemo, (wish the fat on my tummy would do the same), so did the deed. Went down to the wood (versus going down on the wood!) with a #2 buzz cut. I've never felt the rush of the wind on my scalp before, a bit like having sex outside, pulling out, taking the condom off and having a cold breeze hit you!! Looks weird, feels weird, but at least I am still here to complain!! Hope all are having a great day. Hugs and kisses and lots of licks to all. tL
theliquor (Lost but not fo 50595 Report post Posted September 28, 2012 Time for another update. Well thought we hit one out of the park with the last round of treatment....not so much. The docs found that although the mass has reduced in size, did not take it away. Shoulder joint and the surrounding muscle is sore and weak. But fear not, I have learned to jerk with my left hand and it feels like someone new in the room....now I have to remember not to play in the mall food court, damn concussion!!! Anyway, hoping to still give massages to the Ladies of Cerb, just may not be able to penetrate to those knots for as long. (get it, penetrate, oh brother where are my pain killers, my jokes are killing me). Thanx to all who have sent notes, I really appreciate them. Home this weekend, then to Toronto to see those docs on Thursday, and start another dose (wait a minute, they are giving me a dose...that sucks!) of treatment. Take care all, get extra hugs and kisses and licks when you play, send the extras to me. Play safe. T

theliquor (Lost but not fo 50595 Report post Posted October 22, 2012 Hey all, thanx again for checking in on me. The meeting with the cancer specialist and the ortho dr. went.....I'm not really sure. The good news: cancer has not spread from the shoulder The bad news: the chemo and radiation have not shrunk it soooo... where do we go from here? (there was a song with that line!) "radical surgery, remove the total shoulder and arm and lymph nodes (then I could be a one-armed paper hanger!) "significant surgery", replace the shoulder and monitor, possible more chemo and radiation do nothing....not really an option. So it looks like door number 2, the new relief pitcher coming out of the bull pen. And that my friends, is all the news that is fit to print. for now! Thanx again for all your good wishes. tL

theliquor (Lost but not fo 50595 Report post Posted January 25, 2013 Greetings all! First, thanx again for the continued good wishes, prayers and support, it is REALLY appreciated. Thought the game was won.....but the "big C" made an unexpected comeback. So, after having the "pic line" taken out last week, was called on Monday and told "not so fast go back to the plate as we need to pitch again". Basically, the bone cancer has not receded as originally thought, the chemo has probably created a delaying action. Sooooooo, back in they go. All things being equal, they will cut me again on Feb 6, using this "laser knife" to try and carve out the beast like they did with my jaw in 2011. I was told there seemed to be a glut of one-armed paper hangers, so they are going this route. I'll keep my hair this time, every grey strand. So onward and upward, always better than the alternative!!!! My posts after Feb 6 will be done by the hunt and peck method of keyboarding so will be less prolific and probably utilizing single syllables!!! Bring on the beast, let's kick it's ass. I want to be three-putting by August! Thanx again all. TL

radicalsteve 213 Report post Posted January 26, 2013 man ... that is a tough ordeal you are going through. I had the big C last year and was lucky enough to get it out of the system with 6 cycles of chemo and a targeted therapeutic drug - I know the roller coaster my man, hang on in there and your positive spirit will conquer this adversity. We can only deal with those things we can control so focus on those positives! For all cerbites, I can't say enough great things about the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre - although I think you are getting treated somewhere else liquorman? Perhaps the Cerb community can put a cancer raising program together? Our hospitals need the donations for both research and facilities.
