Guest S**r***e Report post Posted March 2, 2009 Hey Mod, I noticed you said something about corrupt files in one of your posts. I have an older computer (maybe 5 years now) that has a lot of pics and stuff I want off it before I get rid of it. I tried to copy them to a disk but it said I couldn't because the files are "corrupt". Do you know if there is anyway to fix this and get my files, or am I screwed? :|
mod 135640 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 Is it just a few files that are corrupt or the directory structure? If it's just one or two photos chances are they are lost but you can always try a sector-by-sector recovery program if the drive still runs. Here is a free program that should help you see what is recoverable PC INSPECTOR. If not you may want to look at a more serious program program called "VirtualLab" but try the free one first as it may do the job for you.
Apex2006 1071 Report post Posted March 2, 2009 To get your pics back or any texted, not that I think you would have any text lol, just open that pic, copy it then open a new file in the same rpograme and past it! That might fix the prob! PM me if you don't understand!
Guest S**r***e Report post Posted March 3, 2009 I don't know that much about computers so I don't know if the "directory stucture" is corrupt. All I know is that I tried to copy my pics and a couple of files to disc and it said they were corrupt. I will try both your suggestions and let you know. Thanks guys. mod 135640 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 See if you can navigate to the folder where the pics are and try opening one. Note the file size as well (If it's showing as 0kb than it's corrupt and will be difficult to recover but any showing more than 0kb have data so try to open them)

Note the file size as well (If it's showing as 0kb than it's corrupt and will be difficult to recover but any showing more than 0kb have data so try to open them) Well I finally got on to my old computer to see if my pics had any file size. It appears that all of them do. I may try the copy and paste method someone suggested to get my pics on to a disk. I have a lot of pics there so I haven't started yet. I am going to need some time for that. If the copy and paste method doesn't work I will try your program you suggested Mod. Anyway, hopefully I will get them all. I will update you how it went when I finally get around to doing it.Thanks for the techie help.
