Cato 160314 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 (One more thread before I leave you for a while. :)) With the London Olympics soon to get underway, I thought it might be fun to discuss/visualize our favourite sports. :) Beach volleyball, anyone??
tokan 16826 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Probably one of the sports I'm looking forward to is tennis. I actually do enjoy playing tennis, although I haven't played in a while. Maybe I just need some extra motivation, lol. And well gymnastics, it's amazing watching watching what the human body can do but it also doesn't hurt when the competition looks like this :)

mrrnice2 157005 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 The Olympic Games are full of amazing athletes playing sports at an amazing level. It is difficult to choose just one sport, however based on the following experience I would go with Men's Volleyball. I have always enjoyed the sport so when the Olympic Games were held in Montreal in 1976 I lucked into tickets for the gold medal match which ended up being between Poland and the USSR, with the USSR being the overwhelming favorite and Poland being the ultimate underdog. Now the context is that at that exact moment in time Poland was embarking on the Solidarity movement with Lech Walesa being the leading figure in promoting strikes and protests aimed at their USSR masters. It was David vs Goliath in world politics. Well, at the Olympic gold medal final we found ourselves in the Montreal forum. I believe that there were 17 998 Polish people, and then there was my wife and I. The match was the most emotionally charged event that I have ever been party to, and in the end Poland defeated the USSR by 3 games to 2. It will be an event that I shall never forget. So my first contribution to this thread would be men's volleyball. No politics in the Olympics? Don't count on it.

I tend to agree with you - so many sports to watch and enjoy. And I agree especially regarding the Canadian women's soccer team - they have gained my full respect and contrary, I could not say the same about the American team.
