Phantom 5310 Report post Posted July 16, 2012 Using firefox 13.0.1 Settings are to "never remember history" and to "not allow to be tracked by websites". (Same as always) I used to have to log in each time (As preferred) The last 2 days, when I go to CERB it automatically is logging me on. I never checked remember me. I logged out and opened it and had to log on again (as expected) and made sure not to check remember me. Closed the window without logging off. Came back to the site and it was automatically logged in? Did something change on the website? I purposefully do not want it to log in automatically in case someone else gets on my PC. Is this just happening to me? Some new Firefox update or website update that reset some other security settings? Any ideas would be great. Thanks,
Boomer 33202 Report post Posted July 16, 2012 Not sure if it would help, but you might want to go into the control panel under internet properties. Under the general settings there's a place to delete browser history on exit. It seems to suggest that any passwords from the session would be deleted. Let us know if this helps. Guest jrose Report post Posted July 17, 2012 On the options - pricacy tab check the option to clear your recent data, then turn OFF "tell websites I do not want to be tracked" and turn it back on and see if that helps.
cometman 35115 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 If all else fails, run Chrome and run incognito. Just to be safe, I, er......a friend I know, cleans all traces of activity periodically.......cookies, cache, logins, passwords, etc.
backrubman 64800 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 All common browsers (Chrome, Firefox or Internet Exploiter) all have an Incognito or Private Browsing mode. See Privacy mode. That's the only reasonably safe way to ensure that someone else using you computer doesn't see evidence of visiting CERB... Just the same it is called a Personal Computer for a reason :) It's also mildly useful to access CERB as: https://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/index.php and accept the self signed, bad certificate warning - at least then some of your traffic (text, not pictures and banner ads) is SSL encrypted, but you have to keep an eye on it, because if you follow a link to a thread that is http (as opposed to https) then you are inadvertently back to normal clear text http as oposed to encrypted SSL. This happens also if you don't include the /vbulletin/index.php in the URL when initially logging in also. Hope someone finds this info helpful. Phantom 5310 Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Thanks guys. Checked most of those. Noticed that I had "remember passwords" on in the internet options which I never do. Must have happened during last update or something. (I did check to see if anyone was logged on since this started and I am the only one so I am not worried.) Guest jrose Report post Posted July 17, 2012 Remember Phantom - the Internet Options in Control Panel only apply to Internet Explorer. All other browsers need to be set up in the app itself, usually in settings or preferences
