mod 135639 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 If you search the word "Escort" today on google you will find that none of the "Advertised links" (AdWords Paid links) that show up on the top and right side of the page are visible any longer. I supose Google must be concerned (probably due to the CL charges) and has pulled these ad words campaigns. Some of the Toronto escort agencies were spending over 5000 a month on google adwords so this is a BIG drop in revenue for google as I suspect they probably make over 10 million dollars a year globally off the escort world alone. Here is the info they sent out to all of us as they cut our accounts off... -> Content: At this time, Google policy does not permit the advertisement of websites promoting escort services or related content. As noted in our advertising terms and conditions, Google may refuse any ads or terminate any of your ad campaigns at any time, for any reason. POLICY DEFINITIONS: Escort Services: Unacceptable Content: Google believes strongly in freedom of expression and therefore offers broad access to content across the web without censoring search results. Please note that the decisions we make concerning advertising in no way affect the search results we deliver. Please note that both your ad and keywords have been suspended at this time. etasman2000 15994 Report post Posted March 24, 2009 This is a drastic broad swiping move by Google. Does this apply to Google.ca as well ? Personally I never did follow the AdWord links just the normal search results. More motivation for promoting your Canada's Worldwide Escort Search Engine Project efforts :)
JoyfulC 132299 Report post Posted March 25, 2009 This is yet another complication of the American Taliban mentality towards the sex industry (... uh, make that sex in general). For whatever reason, there's still some persistent and influential notion south of the border that society must police morality. It reminds me a lot of the old Jim Crow laws which sought to do an end run around emancipation and the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. Culturally, people just weren't ready to accept racial integration, and so they lashed out with state and local laws, and business policies to accomplish a comfortable level of segregation. It was another hundred years before American culture came up to speed -- and some might argue it still hasn't, in pockets. ..c..
misterdynomite30 174 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I've also noticed that searching for videos (porn) on altavista (plus the option to download w/o visiting the website) has been removed. hrmph!
mod 135639 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Google did not remove the seach engine links to escort sites in the regular searches (Just the adwords) but I see today some ads are back online. Not sure what is going on. Maybe someone raised a really big stink with google and made them reconsider?
