Meg O'Ryan 266444 Report post Posted September 17, 2012 Why did I receive an email from a yahoo account and then when I replied (seconds later) I received a "mailer-daemon" report stating that this user does not have a yahoo.com account?

xBen 120 Report post Posted September 21, 2012 Generally, mailer demon is when you tried to send/receive an email and it failed. click the link below: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/commonissues/common-03.html However, take persuasions especially after yahoo got hacked back in July. http://articles.cnn.com/2012-07-12/tech/tech_web_yahoo-users-hacked_1_passwords-yahoo-accounts-hack Clean your cache and change your password. Run a spyware check if you need to.
backrubman 64800 Report post Posted September 21, 2012 Why did I receive an email from a yahoo account and then when I replied (seconds later) I received a "mailer-daemon" report stating that this user does not have a yahoo.com account? It could be just a temporary failure with Yahoo and trying later might work but most people still fail to realize that the email header contents "from" and "reply-to" addresses in email (and even "to") are only comments (no different from the "subject" line) and can get be set to anything, correctly or incorrectly and have nothing to do with how the email is delivered. If it was a client legitimately attempting to contact you he may have set these values incorrectly. What ever your email address is, I can easily send you an email to: [email protected] (doesn't exist as far as I know) and from [email protected] (does exist) and have it arrive in your inbox. When you reply your reply will go back to the President of the United States (well is minions really). All that from, to and subject stuff in an email is strictly comments and has nothing to do with how the email is routed or delivered.
