cometman 35115 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 I work around animals and in barns. I don't need no stinkin' flu shot! Seriously though, I haven't yet and may not for a long time, but I do think the young, elderly, and susceptible should get one. No need to play with fire. Athos 108589 Report post Posted November 8, 2012 I work in an environment that tends to be a bit of a breeding ground for viruses and the exchange of germs. So I do get the flu shot every year. The years I haven't, I tend to get the flu more often than the times I don't. Absolutely it's a crap shoot since the vaccine doesn't protect against all strains of flu. But rolling the dice doesn't seem particularly harmful, and may actually help. I did get the H1N1 vaccine the year of the big pandemic scare. And yes, I actually did get H1N1 that year. I was told when I got it that there would be a window where I wouldn't be fully protected, and yes, I got sick. I see that as dumb luck, not the result of the flu virus. At the end of the day, everyone needs to make the best choices for them. In general, healthy people have less to worry about in terms of the likelihood of getting sick, unless they are in environments where they are routinely exposed to particular diseases. Pink Kitty Escorts 6195 Report post Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) I have been doing deliveries for pass 10 years. Never got a flu shot. sometimes got a small 24 hrs cold. If you care properly for your body, plenty of vitamin, be careful you will be fine If people want to get these vaccinations, it's their business, it's their bodies. I just hope they do their homework so they know the risks, because there risks. Despite what the Non Corrupt Government and Major Non Profit Pharmaceutical Companies tell you. To be honest when I see people lining up for this stuff, and blindly rolling up their sleeves.. It really scares the shit out of me. Not just because of what they are taking into their bodies, and not just because of the long term effects (which I don't think anyone here is qualified to say there won't be any).. What scares me the most is how absolutely trusting today's society is of our Goverment and Major corporations after they have done nothing to earn our trust. Corupted in every level, and constantly being caught getting kickbacks. To put your lives and health in their hands.. Really? Really?? And when whistle-blowers and activists speak their peace, (who are actually trying to save ppl from their ignorance) they are dismissed as crazies. Sorry, but I think we need to re-define the crazy definition, because if crazy means not "goin with the flow", if crazy means questioning people in charge of our health, and asking for an independant point of view, not something that has been dictated to them by the same ppl making this shit.. Then sign me up on the crazy train baby, cuz I am ready to ride!! One last thing, this is coming from someone who is a hippee or an extreme health nut. I love red meat, I occasionally have an energy drink, I have the odd drink or beer. These are things I do in moderation, and I know that if any of these things would end up making me unhealthy, well.. that would be my fault. I know the risks, and it's my decision to do so. I don't think the majority of people know the risks with these unneccessary vaccinations. And I will conceed that are likely short term benefits to some of them, but the long term price IMHO isn't worth it. At least Not to me. April Dawn 12207 Report post Posted November 11, 2012 I get my flu shots every year, I work with small children and the elderly. Do I get sick? Sometimes haha kids are disease factories. Do I feel better about getting my shots because I work with people who could die from the flu? Yes. Posted via Mobile Device

touchwould2 727 Report post Posted November 11, 2012 I've typically gotten the vaccine for flu, but in light of recent shenanigans, I'm less inclined lately. and aside from the less credible websites challenging the "received wisdom" on these subjects, there have been many fairly serious challenges, and if time would permit, I'd send a few more links. Among them though, the EU parliament launched studies back in 2010 questioning the conflict of interest involved in the hype around the so called pandemic, and the role of the WHO in making that possible. a lot of money made there. More recently and closer to home, a fairly good doc came out by CBC and Radio Canada folk, ( non- propagandist for a change) which showed that a couple of our Canadian star scientist "experts " had ties to drug companies in ways that were not obvious to the public they were counseling: http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/story/2011/05/22/tamiflu-documentary-conflict.html that link is not to the full doc...if I can find it I'll post it later. better to not take things at face value........ Do I feel better about getting my shots because I work with people who could die from the flu? Yes.Posted via Mobile Device Elderly and small children have been exposed to the flu for a very long time. And the fact that you still get sick, means that IF you get sick you are still contagious. So.... I am not sure how it really protects anyone. Other than preventing a small percentage of flu cases. (before they mutate) I think this is the biggest marketting scam in history and they are using scare tactics and tugging on heart strings to manipulate the general population into thinking they are doing others a favour. Which they are.. If by others you mean the Big Pharma companies. In looking at the ingredients of the current vaccines on the market, I am not sure that meth would be the top of the list for hazardous ingredients. Looking at Squalene, mercury, aluminum and formaldehyde I think it would be a toss up really. At least if it was Meth, I would feel better, (short lived of course) than with the other stuff.
