Luckyme 41401 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Agree that it wasn't the most glamorous place to watch a young lady dance. But with free lunch and the cost of a beer, it wasn't bad to spend your lunch hour there at that time. I had some great memories of the place.
Bridgette 10998 Report post Posted April 29, 2015 Club 61, Club 77, Le Pink, and now the Dollar -- such a shame. Say what you will about the clubs themselves, but it's sad to see the industry in Ottawa shrinking. Wonder what it'll look like a year from now. I agree in the past when I used to travel to Ottawa fairly often hitting the strip clubs was one of my favorite things to do. Not sure if I have been to all the clubs in Ottawa but I did visit Barbs (my most frequent haunt), Bare Fax, Nuden, Playmates, Silver Dollar and going back more than a few years Valentino's... actually we used to hit the Prescott to watch sports and eat Pizza then head to Valentino's... lol with that comment I am pretty sure I am dating myself. Peachka 4334 Report post Posted April 30, 2015 Where was Club 61? Also, wasn't there Fannys near Barrymores? Club 61 was in Aylmer. They also had another location in Gatineau, which became Taboo. Fanny's was on Bank near Barrymore's.
Cowboy kenny 50799 Report post Posted April 30, 2015 Fanny's was where babylon is now, I worked there for many years. Later it moved to the Market on York street and rebranded as O' Ladies and eventually closed. The Liquor Store bar now occupies the space in the market.
OddSox 253 Report post Posted November 9, 2015 There's a SOLD sign up on the Silver Dollar now. I doubt that means it is coming back though. I would imagine whoever bought it is going to put up something new...
Beldivok 224 Report post Posted November 9, 2015 I suspect that it's going to be retail or condo, I do hope it gets renovated and reopen though. Rumor had it there was soil contamination issues.

canuckhooker 19203 Report post Posted November 10, 2015 It is no more, it snuffed it, shuffled off this mortal coil and joined the choir invisible, its fucking dead!!! The way it got shut down there is no way to transfer the key thing, which was the Adult Entertainment license and there is no way the city is ever going to issue any more. It would be impossible to resurrect. The one ray of hope in the west end is that the license for Jason's is still on the books. However it seems the land etc is reportedly owned by Terry Matthews and he is not pro-strip club. He may only be holding on to the license because it may have some business value down the way, and you don't get to be as rich as he is by throwing away money. ngtime 560 Report post Posted November 12, 2015 Not to hijack the thread, but the SC is disappearing one by one. There are better options and not any more expensive. Dropped by Karina's on a Wednesday evening, just a local bar now, no dancers to be seen.
Guest **oo**e Report post Posted November 13, 2015 As soon as a SC disappears its location license is withdrawn. The city if not at this time issuing any new location licenses for SCs. The existing ones have been grandfathered. Their license fee has been doubled this year but it still is a fairly nominal amount, now in the $6000 a year range. More liberal in our homes more conservative on the street... lol
survived70s 582 Report post Posted December 12, 2015 I agree completely. The sexual orientation of the mayor and/or councillors should have nothing to do with it - if anything, I would expect a more open minded attitude. Suspect there are two forces at work - real estate developers/investors and a small minority of ex-dancers who provide a very negative perspective on the business. IMHO, there may be a reason why they are ex-dancers and they are just jealous of the successful ladies. Current strip club owners have an interests in protecting their business. So restricting new clubs is giving them an exclusive market. All that being said, many patrons of the strip clubs do not have open relationships where they can open discuss the clubs - or no one wants to hear it anyway. We just go...
