Stopped into 340 Monday (10/1) afternoon and found Barb's a bit quiet, but as I've never been in on a Monday before it strikes me that it might have been typical for that day of the week.

 

There were a few unfamiliar dancers but, as usual, a number I recognized.

Jade looked just great on (and off) stage, Ariel was as striking as ever and Jenny captivated the (rather small) crowd in a very tiny and very flattering black bikini during her first turn on stage. Felt I was taking a bit of a chance hoping for a J. sighting on a Monday but, as luck would have it, my gamble was rewarded.

Outstanding afternoon/early evening at Barbs's. Dances from Ariel, Jenny, and Cherry. Not all at the same time, of course; I couldn't have survived that.:) But with adequate recovery time between sessions, it worked out very well. Plus I was joined by a cerb friend for drinks and conversation.

So an excellent time at my favourite bar, with some of my favourite women.

In a very cold Saturday afternoon I headed to Barbarellas. To my surprise it was very quiet. Soon after I saw a shining star walking nearby and heading towards me with a smile. It was Bridgette, the shining star'.

Barbs as a whole was very quiet. My other favorite (Diablo) was not there. There were 4 girls (all beautiful , Bridgette the cerb popular and Barbs shining star, Ariel the popular blondie, Maxime and Hennessy both blondes too!!!!) and about 10 patrons or so. Not sure why it was quiet as the summer has ended lol. Though the 3 blondes were beautiful too but as most cerbites know my most favorite girls are pale brunettes or natural redheads so I left the bar early after having a couple of rounds of dances with the shining star.

As a 10+ year SC veteran I have seen the rise and fall of strip clubs. In the year 1999 when I first started it was no contact dance at $10 in Ottawa and $5 in Montreal. But the clubs were a lot busier hard to find a seat especially next to stage on Friday/Saturday nights. Busy even Sundays lol and a lot less expensive to go to strip bars.

 

Then CR dances doubled overnight in 2001 and became $20 contact dances (and yes a lot more fun too) and dancers were allowed to sit with patrons and chat (not allowed before. Again a great thing but more expensive). It became more expensive to even be at strip bars. So a lot of patrons who were coming with expectation of spending the usual $10 on two beers and just watch stage dances ended up spending a lot more and stopped or came less often. The prices for drinks and entry fee increased substantially too, to make up for the loss of customers, so a double blow lol.

 

In 2005 the city bylaw prohibited smoking at bars (something I personally applauded) so lots of patrons coming to strips bars who were smokers stopped coming.

 

The final blow came in 2007 when another city bylaw made the new concept of open CR mandatory (barbs CRs used to be totally private before bylaw), so the $20 CR dances were not private anymore but the price stayed the same as it should have, again another setback for strip clubs and dancers who used to make a lot in private CRs.

 

To combine with all above factors the escort business expanded fast past few years. With the Internet technology, review boards like cerb and ease of accessability and laws of private communications and seeing escorts in private being legal, then plenty of former strip bars goers changed for escorts instead (myself included). As one of dancers told me recently so why people should come and see us (dancers) when they can get the whole package at a lower price?.

 

in spite of all that:

I personally always encourage people to go to strip bars at least on occasions, as variety is a big factor to me. I can have intimate dances (by this I mean hugging and kissing nothing sexual) with 10 dancers for the price of two escorts lol. It is also a lot more likely to make friends with dancers (outside the businesss) than escorts in my experience. You can never find anywhere like Barbarellas (or other SCs) in Ottawa with so many beautiful young ladies semi nude asking you to take them to CR so that they can give you a great time lol!!!!.

 

I also personally find (generally speaking) dancers more attractive in comparison, not to mention that with escorts we always have to choose from blurred pictures (not to mention some bait and switch practices) but with dancers we pick in flesh!!. So I still go to SCs and enjoy it very much and encourage everyone else do same (do not let our strip bars die away lol) as we all love variety of pale and tanned brunette/blonde/redhead/elbony/oriental ladies in one heavenly afternoon or evening :).

Very quiet indeed. I've rarely been in on Saturday afternoons this year but last (i.e. 2011) summer I never experienced as few as 4 dancers even on the quietest of Saturday afternoons.

A agree with you Capital Hunter. I love going to the clubs too and it is always a good feeling to walk into Barb's and see what girls are there. Like any club, you walk in and see a variety of lovely girls... always fun. There is something different about a SC.

 

The girl I mentioned in my post has been working there for about 5 years now and is normally very busy. She said that although the bar area can get busy, not as many guys take girls in the CR these days. I witnessed this with her on a few occasions recently.

 

Maybe times have changed for Barb's... I hope not. I love the place and the girls there and this is the only SC I go to. Barb's is so easy going compared to other bigger clubs. Time will tell I guess.

I agree, Brooklyn's stage is worth checking out. It's easy to get distracted by those long legs, but when you actually look at her moves, you realize she gets up to some seriously athletic shit up there.

I went to Barbs last night and the club was dead... really dead. I talked to some of the girls and I think many of them will move on. I don't think the owner cares about the business in all honesty. He might want the place to die for some reason.

 

Barbs is likely the best club in the city. I just hope the owner thinks the same.

Agree that Barb's is the best. Maybe it was just an unusually quiet Tuesday evening....Sunday to Wednesday nights can be somewhat subdued. I've become more of an afternoon attendee of late but have found it to be almost too busy on Friday/Saturday nights on some occasions in the past.

Actually Barb's was my favourite, but when they went and build the new CR under the new bylaws, I hated it, feels like cattle stalls, and have gone there less and less, to the point only a few times a year. Use to be 2-3 a month.

Thanks for the info Cato. Sad to hear that and yes I completely agree with you that it is not an ideal situation. These attractive ladies have to pay a hefty bar fee as well as other bills in life and most are young students trying to pay the hefty tution fees and other related expenses. So please gents go and see them. They are there to give you pleasure. As I have said it before there is no where in the world that you can find where lovely beautiful attractive ladies come to you asking you to go to a private room in order to get nude and give you lots of fun for a small fee.

Although my experience in this regard is quite limited, I have certainly found Saturday, Monday and Tuesday afternoons to be fairly subdued. Haven't been in at night for some time but I used to enjoy Sunday nights at Barb's, especially compared to Friday and Saturday evenings when it was easy to find oneself without a table after getting up (for any reason) but perhaps this is no longer typical, even on these traditionally busiest of nights. I've found Thursday and Friday afternoons to be the busiest, although things can quiet down a bit after the lunch/buffet crowd disperses, typically between 1:30 and 2:00. Maybe I'll drop in sometime to see how things are while awaiting an ATF's return from across the pond.

Snuck down to Barb's on Sunday night... Forgot it was reading break so my ATF was elsewhere....

Regardless, saw some old friends (Wendy, Sierra) and met some new (Snow). All in all okay, but absolutely no energy in the bar. My fellow patrons were more interested in the Pittsburgh game! I also had an odd incident, a first actually. I very politely declined a visit to the CR, and got some serious attitude. Never happened in all the years of SC visits. Times must be tough...
