Guest Report post Posted January 16, 2019 The "Bumblebee" movie is a refreshing take on the Transformers movie franchise. While a prequel set in the universe created by Michael Bay/"Bayformers", it feels like a reboot with redesigns and storylines closer to the source material. Also, the director Travis Knight is a far better storyteller and capable of making us care for the robots and human characters on the screen. More character development and less explosions make a far better family movie than the bloated previous entries. If you never cared about the transforming robots, you'll see it as a remake of "The Iron Giant" with some hints of "E.T." spread into it. And if you enjoyed the Saturday morning cartoon of the mid 80's, you'll enjoy this good live action story. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Guest Report post Posted February 12, 2019 Just watched "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part". It's another good Lego movie. But if you expect the same "lighting in the bottle" as the first one, you could be a bit disappointed. There's nothing really bad, but it misses the clever reveal that gave so much heart to the original. A lot of things repeat themselves and the twist ending becomes a bit obvious. There's still a lot of creativity and good jokes for adults, but it lacks a bit in freshness. Maybe after repeat reviewing I'll appreciate better, but for now I rate it between the "Lego Batman" and "Ninjago" movies. If you enjoyed the first movie, I certainly recommend it. I agree that while not a bad movie, it's certainly one of the weakest film of the MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe). While an origin story, the setting of the 90's make it feel like a prequel. The main character doesn't really have arc and there no real stakes as we already knew the things that couldn't happen in this story. Also, the movie is a bit too much on the nose in term of sending a message and did the cinematic sin of providing answers to questions nobody asked for. It did a decent job in establishing who Captain Marvel is in this universe, but wished they would have put more effort in the writing. Guest Report post Posted April 28, 2019 Earlier today, seen "Avengers: Endgame". No spoilers, but this movie is simply amazing. For anyone who seen most(or all) MCU(Marvel Cinematic Universe) movies, this is an amazing final chapter to this story. It's not the end of the MCU. But closes arcs for certain characters, while displaying others who'll soon shine in other solo and ensemble movies. As this movies contains many unexpected twists and hilarious use of certain characters, I would recommend going blind to enjoy the numerous surprises. And while some part are extremely funny and entertaining, others are quite dramatic and effectively pull some emotional cords. I don't think it's necessary to have seen all previous MCU movies to enjoy and understand this film. But watching the Iron Man, Captain America and other Avengers movies will give you a far greater viewing experience. With an 182min runtime, it's a long movie. But considering the insane amount of characters and story it contains, it doesn't fell long or bloated. If you enjoy the series and genre, I strongly recommend. Guest Report post Posted June 5, 2019 Recently seen "Godzilla: King of the Monsters". As a long time Godzilla and giant monster movie enthusiast, I really enjoy this movie. It respects the source material and mythology of the creatures. Some minor changes were made, but only to tone down some silly elements of the franchise. Godzilla was created as an allegory of nuclear proliferation and became a Japanese cultural icon. In more modern interpretation, the allegory shifted from nuclear threats to environmental disasters. This is a niche genre and not for everyone. If you find giant monster movie cheesy and stupid, this movie won't change your opinion. Guest Report post Posted December 20, 2019 Just came back from watching "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" and my comments will be spoiler free. This is no "Empire Strikes Back", but nothing will ever be. After the confusing mess of "The Last Jedi", this movies does enough course corrections to put the story back on track to deliver a satisfying conclusion to this final trilogy(for now). The story could have been polished a bit better. But considering the dead ends from the last chapter and the loss of Carrie Fisher, they did the best they could to salvage this.
