PatrickGC 10792 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 I found "The Theory of Everything" to be quite astonishing. It's about Professor Stephen Hawking and his wife Jane. There were so many nuances, both emotional and physical, which the actors had to convey in order to bring the humanity of the story alive with sincerity. Not all of it could've been scripted. This is storytelling at its best. Not overacted but, very passionate. In particular the people here at CERB are likely to really appreciate this movie, because SPs and clients understand and work with the passion and pain of being human. Eddie Redmayne, who plays Professor Hawking, is remarkable. We see Hawking before the onset of Lou Gehrig's disease, through the beginning and up to the present-day. There are tiny little changes in his movements which are utterly imperceptible unless you are looking for them. The actor must've worked very hard with Professor Hawking in order to achieve this portrayal. The same can be said for Felicity Jones who plays his wife Jane. Indeed, it is likely that a documentary about the making of this movie would be similarly captivating. It is being quite a while since I've seen a movie like this. Highly recommended. Luckyme 41401 Report post Posted February 18, 2015 I found "The Theory of Everything" to be quite astonishing. It's about Professor Stephen Hawking and his wife Jane. PatrickGC This is on my to watch list. He is one of the great scientists of our time. Watched Nightcrawler last night and would reco if you like dark movies. Main Character (Jake Gylenhal-probably misspelled-sorry) is very disturbing but the story was good, imo. I totally agree with you. This is a dark and disturbing movie, but well-made and worth watching. Jake's character is aggressive, sneaky, selfish and self-promoting. This is one of the rare movies of his that I dislike him, ie., his character.

emiafish 30979 Report post Posted February 25, 2015 I just went on an Oscar binge. Here are the results. In my humble opinion... Birdman: An actor's movie. Edward Norton and Michael Keaton give Tour de force performances. Emma Stone and Naomi Watts turn in credible portrayals. The constant drum score that prevails throughout the film is a little hard to get used to, but it's worth the effort. I loved the camera work, the entire film seems to be done in a single take, following the characters around while day turns to night and locations seemingly and seamlessly blend into each other. Boyhood: Gotta love the commitment of the film makers and actors to work on this project for more than twelve years. Good performances by Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke propell the story. But overall, the film left me ambivalent. American Sniper: I had Bradley Cooper as my pick for best actor until I saw Birdman. Docudrama or propaganda aside, this was one of the most compelling and saddest stories that I have seen this year. Note, I haven't seen the Theory of Everything or Foxcatcher yet. Whiplash: This was my pick for best picture of the year. I loved J.K. Simmons and Miles Teller. The great acting was backed by an intimate and intricate story that examines the cost and pursuit of greatness. The musical score was a treat.
YoungBeautyMirella 5600 Report post Posted February 25, 2015 I saw American Sniper and Gone girl recently and they were both really good ones. I'm excited for Ted 2 to come out, the first one was hilarious! Too bad Mila Kunis isn't in the second one though :(

Guest M****ella's C****s (retire Report post Posted March 6, 2015 My mom really wanted to see Still Alice, so I took her out to dinner and a movie. It was really well done. It captured the subject of the movie wonderfully and gave insight about it. I'd be lying if I didn't have tears in my eyes for a couple of the scenes. JoyfulC 132299 Report post Posted March 12, 2015 I've been blowing through a bunch of old films noir on YouTube: DOA, Johnny O'Clock, Scarlet Street, The Man Who Cheated Himself, The Bat and more. His older brother put him back on the right track. To become that Olympic Athlete who set a World record and then had to fight in WWII, in Japan. He only passed in 2014.. in his ninety's. Definitely a Movie to watch.. For those who watch it I hope you enjoy.. I did..

This is a very interesting movie which captivated me through the whole length of the movie although I must admit it is a bit too long to my liking. It was heartwrenching and it depicts the ugliness of wars and the inhumane treatment of POWs by the aggressor of WWII. I recommend this film. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/unbroken_2014 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1809398/
