rockstar1 204 Report post Posted June 22, 2009 Since I have not seen or heard of any of the users or SPs on this forum discuss our latest health crisis, I am taking the liberty of raising the issue with the our respective Service Providers in our industry who we rely on to service our basic needs. Are they prepared or have they been briefed by health authorities?
Guest gagagaga Report post Posted June 22, 2009 for the record, the is no current health crisis: over 500,000 people per year die of the flu ( the regular old flu that everyone gets every year.) Comparatively, very few people have died from swine flu, and those who have were very weak, or very immunosuppressed. The swine flu is not a threat to humans. It is a "technical" pandemic simply because of definition, but if you are of normal health, don't stress.

I have it right now, and really, all it is is a sore throat and headache, a little bit of fever but nothing too extreme, I've gotten way sicker from the regular ol' flu. Actually, the worst part about having swine flu is that I can't see Redseductress this week while she's in Ottawa :(

I had a touch of something last week , think it was the "piglett flu". only lasted about 12 hours. I feel the need to give it a name tho :-P
buggernot 588 Report post Posted June 23, 2009 Thank you guys, but why did the WHO raise it to the pandemic level? So they won't get fooled again? Seriously though, who gives a shit...the press makes it sound like an Ebola outbreak and it's just the flu. People die from having any old flu all the time and this is no different. Well, this one made it's way around the world so I guess it is a bit different, hence the warnings....

Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted August 13, 2009 Reported 9 Aug 2009 by the Malaysian National News Agency: Avoiding masturbation and homosexual activities are among preventive measures one could take against Influenza A (H1N1), according to an eminent practitioner of complimentary therapy. Dr. V. M. Palaniappan said that such activities caused the body to develop friction heat which in turn, produced acid and made the body hyperacidised. "Thus, the body becomes an easy target for H1N1 infection," he told Bernama, emphasising however, that normal sexual union between members of the opposite sex was absolutely safe. JoyfulC 132299 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I'm not even going to bother to get the flu shot for it. I've never had a flu shot in my life (nor has my husband) and yet, we're usually healthier than most people -- we rarely get sick and when we do, it's pretty mild. If we get it, we're just going to have it, drink lots of fluids, stay home and avoid other people until we're well over it. One thing I would like to note, I've gotten a Noro virus twice now from clients -- once in 2002 and again just last winter. In both cases, I knew exactly who I got it from -- and when I asked them, they admitted to having it a day or two before. In each case, I was only sick for a few hours (but what a wild few hours!!!!), but I went home and didn't return until the following week. One thing to remember with Noro viruses is that you can be contagious for up to four days following infection, even if your symptoms have ceased. This is how these cruise ships end up with massive outbreaks: people get it just before they leave, but by the day they're supposed to go, the symptoms are gone and they're feeling okay again. They don't want to cancel their trips, so they go -- but they're still contagious and Noro spreads like wildfire. So please, guys, if you have a bout of gastroenteritis that could be a Noro virus, give it a week before you see the ladies. It would be greatly appreciated! Andee 220524 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I agree with Christine. Also, if I'm sick, I also take the time so I don't spread it to my clients. I don't want the last thing they remember about me is that I passed them a cold or a flu bug. As for the swine pandemic, I think it's a bit of hysteria...when you look at the numbers, the odds of contracting it are not enough for me to lose sleep over.:butt:
JoyfulC 132299 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I should note too that, with a cold, a person might have a big red nose, be hacking and coughing, have a rough voice, a runny nose -- and yet be past the contagious phase. I have a few friends who get colds that seem to linger for a month! Unfortunately with colds, you may be most contagious the one or two days BEFORE you start getting symptoms -- and since no one has a crystal ball, they can't be blamed for passing a cold around. By the time a person really looks like death warmed over from a cold, they're usually no longer contagious.
Andee 220524 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 Again, I agree with you Christine. However, I don't feel very presentable when I have a red nose or I am coughing and hacking. :boobies:
JoyfulC 132299 Report post Posted August 13, 2009 I was thinking more of the hobbyists. We have make-up to cover our imperfections and antihistamines to hide them. But sometimes guys come to us in serious need of TLC.

MandalayBay 575 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 When I first started escorting, I got a horrific case of strep throat from a client and unknowingly passed it along to one client before I started getting symptoms. He was very angry with me and I truly felt awful about everything. I didn't see anyone else until my antibiotics were finished and there was no chance of passing it along. Please don't see your SP if you have even the slightest feeling of coming down with something or until you KNOW you are no longer contagious. Although I passed along the strep throat unknowingly, it really bothered me that it affected a client of mine. He never saw me again, understandably, and it affected my ability to make a living for a 1 1/2 weeks.

I posted in another thread not too long ago in the spring that those of us workers who take our jobs seriously usually double up on precations (flu shots, vitamins, cold FX) around those times but in the end its up to the client to also be honest that he may have to postpone due to the potential of them having come down with something. in my opinion SPs are te most careful with their health, sexually or non sexually. a week of work as we all know means a week of unpaid sick-time. We would rather be cautious then have to suffer the time off or dissapointing our beloved clients :-)
Suzirider 737 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 When I walk into a corner store (or wherever) and see the counter person sniffle or sneeze I turn around and walk out the door (Yes, hard to do at work) (No, I'm not a hypochondriac) (And I do the hand soap thing) Although it may not be serious to me, I still would not want to pass it on (to anyone). Not had even a sniffle in 2 years ! If the H1N1 death rate was far higher ??????
