NotchJohnson 214123 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) Porn and dating sites, I don't know why they pop up on my screen at work when the boss walks by my desk. I'm just kidding, I have a good antivirus and pop up blocker. Never have that problem. Edited February 22, 2013 by NotchJohnson
Tallguy007 4172 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I've been using adblock plus for so long I don't remember the last time I saw a popup. Highly recommended. It can be turned off for those sites where you do want to see the adverts.
Sweet Emily J 172062 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I am using a MAC! :icon_razz: Haven't had pop ups in ages! I actually forgot about them until you mentioned it! ;) But there is certainly solutions for PC's to stop the popups. I think I remember when I had a PC, Firefox had a decent pop-up blocker. I'm sure others will have good suggestions for you too.
Meg O'Ryan 266444 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I am a MAC girl too (for longer than I care to admit lol) I bought an inexpensive pc notebook in order to view flash enabled video from sites such as gorillavid and putlocker. As long as MAC remains adamant about protecting its iTunes and various other paid sites for movies and tv shows, I will put up with the popups to satisfy my online viewing needs :)

I use either Chrome or Firefox with the pop-up blocker and add blockers. I have no problem watching flash based streaming sites to watch TV shows or movies. jafo105 39057 Report post Posted February 22, 2013 I use a Google Chromebook to go online. I never have popups. And like a Mac, they are virus free.
Phaedrus 209521 Report post Posted February 23, 2013 I have to say, I have problems with the whole concept of this thread, as it implies that there might be less annoying pop-ups. I'm pretty sure those don't exist :) But I haven't seen one for a long time. +8 (or whatever we're at now) on pop-up blockers. And I'll have to think of a suitable salutation for you smug Mac people... :)

backrubman 64800 Report post Posted February 23, 2013 I find OpenDNS to be of great value as it can be setup at your broadband or wireless router and can be configured to block many sites that would contain pop-ups or malware. While it doesn't offer complete protection it does what it does for every computer on your home or business network at the network level without having to worry about individual computers. Especially useful if you have children or anyone else that might not be security savvy in your household as it allows you to determine what kind of content they can access without the need to adjust individual computers directly. Nicolette Vaughn 294340 Report post Posted February 27, 2013 I like to watch tv series' online. I often get pop ups while doing so. The two most annoying are William Hill (a gambling site) and the dude who has the secret to free webcams. What pop ups do you encounter? OMG!! The joys of encountering these things when going through the links to watch shows. I watch t.v. shows the same way as well and that William Hill gambling site is the most annoying effin advertisement in the world with the British guy's voice. The music in the background on that popup once woke up friends late at night who were staying with me. They were pissed because it was so abnormally loud! Imagine hearing at 1 am ( I'm a night owl) some chick singing "Get down to the funky beat... tk...tk.." with annoying computerized music in the background! And it stays in your head! #&$$&$!!! I'll send you some good links Meg to avoid the above mentioned site with little to no buffering. Oh ya and that free live cams dude. All of a sudden, I won't see the pop up just hear his nerdy voice... "He-llo...blah, blah, blah..." Pay for cam shows like the rest of the world cheap ass and stop trying to make money by teaching others to scam legit sites. LMAO!!
