jerican 657 Report post Posted July 29, 2009 I have never even considered a CL listed only SP, everyone I have ever really considered has been well reviewed here (gotta love CERB). I will never be the TOFTT guy, the closest I got to that was creating the first official reco of the lovely and talented GrassHopper (posting above me). She was well reviewed, but not in the right sections so I was able to create my first (and probably only) original reco. Frankly I am always curious why with so many Ottawa treasures posting on or mentioned here (plus the reputable agencies) that someone would consider an unknown, minimal ad posted on CL? Is it the adventurous aspect? Trying something new? There are legitimate SPs like us who advertise on CL but we are also members of CERB and as everyone knows, if you are a scammer, you will eventually get found out, end up on CK's blog and banned from CERB. I actually have never checked CL unless an ad is linked here first, there are already way too many amazing women I have no time to see on this board....why would I look elsewhere? A big thanks for all of this goes to the senior, elite and valued members (in particular Dummpy, PistolPete and others who trailblaze). Cowboy Kenny's amazing blog is also invaluable. So to all the people starting out, follow GrassHoppers advice and research before hopping into the mix....it will save you from the unfortunate incident described in this and other threads. Being quite gung-ho and adventurous, he jumped right onto CL and I, being more reserved, went on POF. My buddy was promptly taken by a scammer who required that funds be e-mailed before being given a confirmation of his booking. He/she/they were using the name Rachel Summers. All it took was 45mins to make him feel 220lbs lighter. Later as I read the e-mails that had been sent back and forth, I could feel the anticipation building as each successive e-mail contained a more revealing and enticing pic. It gave a sense of urgency and I understood that I would have fallen for it hook, line and sinker too. I mean here you are an excited newbie coming accross the pic of a gorgeous girl :boobies:, that normally wouldn't even give you a first glance, offering to fulfill any fantasy. I was very fortunate that my friend (yes, he does exist LOL) took a bullet for me. Lesson learned - the hard way! :x I wasn't overly, or should I say immediately, successful on POF so I gravitated to CL, too. I almost fell for a different scam. "The old $1 verification process trick" as Maxwell Smart would call it. What caught my attention was the big "SECURE PROCESS" in big bold letters and a little lock next to it at the top of the page trying to give the site a legitimate look. Meanwhile, the internet address began with http:/ and not https:/ as it should on a secure site. That's when I decided there were too many sharks in the water and I should seek help. I found CERB and was directed to Cowboy Kenny's thread. WOW, what an eye opener that was. But I digress. For my part, I just wanted to get laid asap with the least amount of fuss or effort. I didn't want to go to or contact any agency, club, massage parlor or even a designated and advertised provider (those with websites). It was more a matter of thinking I could fly under the radar and not have to join the community and "openly" admit that that's what I was looking for. I guess this is what makes newbies like me particularly easy prey for scammers as well as somewhat embarrassed to admit when we've been had. It had all dude stuff in it and she said it was her uncles place (coincidenc). I gave her loot. She took her top off and then there was a super loud knock at the door. They argued a bit and then he came in to see me and we exchanged (un)pleasantries and I left. She was at my gym yesterday with a guy who appears to be her boyfriend. Girl was farely attractive and wanted some money up front. Gave her it and she said she was going to put it away, then two thugs come out and say their going to shank me if i dont give them everything in my wallet. I just gave them what they wanted and got the hell out of their. I had a bad feeling when i got their but im stupid and have no one to blame but myself but stay away from this place. I have checked out CL, mostly out of curiosity and it screams sketch city. I have noticed that some of the girls that are advertised on CERB are on there as well but I like I said, CERB is my true source of information. As a last resort I would consider it but only after I call my second last resort PK I have to agree with Dummpy. Why keep tempting fate and venturing into the potentially dangerous uncharted waters of CL (often based on a fake photo) in the hope of saving a few bucks and/or finding the proverbial "hidden gem"? Surely it's better to pay an additional $50-$150/hour with an established and well-reviewed EC provider? There are of course some reliable and honorable SPs who advertise on CL, for example Shy-Ebony (who I can personally vouch for) and Yaya (who I have not yet seen), both of whom have been well reviewed on CERB. I can certainly understand the "thrill of the chase" syndrome that's associated with CL but it's just not worth it in the long run in my opinion. After all, would you consider choosing a doctor, dentist, accountant, lawyer, auto mechanic, plumber or roofer based on a cut-rate CL ad?! As I get older I see clearly the advantages of moving into the world of high-end courtesans. It's far better in my opinion to pay $250-$400/hour and receive the highest level of service imaginable than trying to save money at the $150/hour level and ending up disappointed, deceived or worse still ripped off. I do pay for some of my ads here, in Ottawa, in Montreal, and also in London... That's out of dealing with some agencies in Ottawa and Montreal for booking. Oh! and almost forgot... I have also ads in meeting agencies, and my website. Did I mentionned that my pix are professionnaly done, so I have to pay for them at least every month? But like most of girls, I've started as I could, and I met a lot of CERB members out of CL... I do advertise on CL, like a lot of good girls, and strange fact, most of people I'm meeting are not CERB members, and are sent to CERB for the first time by me, as mentioned in certain reviews... Funny how guys are spitting at the same place they eat... Anyways, it's free advertisement for CERB, as the link on my website... As I stated above, there are undeniably some good people who advertise on CL (and presumably on the other free sites too). Maybe the majority of the CL advertisers are good, I really don't know, but it has been proven time and time again that many are not. Advertising where "bad" people are known to advertise and congregate will always create a feeling of "guilt by association". Most people will judge a person, rightly or wrongly, by the types of friends that he or she hangs out with. CERBians who read the reviews will know who the good SPs are (like Grass_Hopper) but non-CERBians will not likely have that sort of specialized knowledge. Do you run an ad with EC Grass Hopper? If not why? Everyone should really just leave CL to the scammers and be done with it really. I agree strongly. A well-known expression comes to mind here, i.e., "Membership has its Privileges". Membership in any organization that polices its members in a fair and reasonable manner adds immensely to a member's credibility. I don't know how much SPs have to pay to advertise on EC but I find it very hard to believe that any popular, well-reviewed and successful SP could not afford to pay the monthly advertising fees. As I see it, when an SP advertises on EC or on any comparable site then she or he receives an implicit "stamp of authenticity". it's very similar to becoming a "Chartered" Accountant if you happen to be an accountant or a "Professional" Engineer if you happen to be an engineer. In these two latter examples, if you possess the basic academic qualifications, the requisite practical work experience, and if you pay the annual fees to the relevant Society or Institute, then you can become one. Possessing the title "Chartered Accountant" or "Professional Engineer" obviously does not make you a better accountant or a better engineer but being a "member in good standing" of the relevant organization does greatly enhance the member's reputation in the eyes of those people who are seeking the services of an accountant or engineer. I don't think so... It's free if you follow the rules but CERB is heavily moderated and we actively remove all the scams, bait and switch, etc... CL does not do this, they have a FLAG system that is seriously flawed as the scammers use it more then the regular visitors to target and remove each other and the legit ladies. I have actually met some really great clients from there. but I do agree that some...well, MANY bad apples make it a bad place for us....many girls will also say that only sleazes look on CL for girls tho, yes I have encountered some time wasters, but I have also found many great honest clients and couples there (or rather, THEY found ME there, lol)...its a strange double standard (or whatever the proper word for it is) ...... as with any situation, there will always be a better solution to finding the answer you're looking for....it shouldnt mean however that exceptions can't be found in the place least expected...be it client or SP :-) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
