rileydaniels 1901 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 It was on tv last night but the cnbc has it on thier website for everyone to watch If didnt get a chance to watch the program here it is on the cnbc website http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232/?vid...3761885&play=1 I found it very motivating in some aspects of the show, and others I think they are still trying to put us in a negative light as what media does.
Akhenaton 221 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 That's a great link, as well, so long as it is called prostitution, it will always retain all the negatives tied to it, which as you mentionned is what media seem to like (sells more that way...) Some day, it will no longer be a dirty word, or better yet, it will be a forgotten one !!
bylogger 136 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Interesting, but I found the treatment superficial.
rileydaniels 1901 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 For me it was movtivating but of course the media likes put things in a negative light. but Ia m glad they were able to get in interviews from former escorts. and even some input from clients. I do enjoy Amanda Brooks book its a great reference and they need to touch more on the mid-range escorts and the street workers at leas they were able to acknowledge we come all walks of life and we are in different levels of our own industry. as our own corporate latter. Guest f***2f*** Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Interesting, but I found the treatment superficial. Mainstream media is usually superficial and sensationalist in my experience. Re-enforcing stereotypes sells papers and air time.
Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted July 26, 2009 RR, thanks for the link! A balanced presentation overall, I thought.
YoungStud 468 Report post Posted July 26, 2009 Well, I actually watched the whole hour program on-line and found it pretty balanced and accurate to the extent that I could evaluate. (Not sure everyone who has made a comment to date may has actually taken the hour to watch the whole show.) I'm not familiar with "high end prostitution" - and let's face it, sex for money, whether a streetwalker back alley BJ for $40 or a high-end week in Vegas for $40,000, it's all prostitution. In Canada, we are lucky to the extent that prostitution at least is legal, though the laws are very contradictory about several aspects of the business. Anyway, as I say, I'm not familiar with "high end prostitution" - I don't have those kinds of bucks by any means, so I can't really speak to the accuracy there, but after more than 25 years experience in this general area of life, and during that time, having talked to many providers and clients, I thinks the main points made in the documentary were reasonable points of view. Well when you look at it from the mid range escort level the documentary is very much true in many aspects, but as for the high-end i did google alot of the sites mentioned in the documentary and many of them are still active so they are probably getting more business or media attention from this. MandalayBay 575 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 I thought it was a well-done documentary for an American network and she really allowed viewers a good insight into what we do as escorts. As for the high-end prostitution, I cannot fatham making that kind of money. $12,000 for three hours. Holy smokes!
teched 418 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 I have watched the full 40 odd minutes of this show. It seems well balanced but I noticed one item that makes me wonder. There was a section talking about the advent of review boards and it implied that they have not been that good for providers. I would have thought otherwise. It would be an interesting discussion, probably in a separate thread, but I am not sure if that would be outside the bounds of cerb. I will leave it to the Mod to advise if a thread should be created, or this post be deleted.
mod 135639 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 Many review and discussion boards (especially a few years ago) preyed on the ladies. They were very hostile and the ladies were jumped on if they tried to defend themselves when someone slandered them publicly. This left many of the ladies not wanting anything to do with the boards - many to this day are afraid to join in conversations in fear of being slammed by some popular member and having the entire member base instantly hate them. Some sites like this still exists, some were made to get special discounts from the ladies, some were put up by bad agency owners who wanted to discredit competition... etc... etc... (Basically things are easily exploited in this business unfortunately). We won't name the bad sites here as we don't want to give them any additional attention. Cerb is SP friendly and we are proving that you can have a popular discussion board without fighting, flaming, hurtful comments and negative reviews. The ladies can feel safe here and this site is NOT appealing to any of the guys who get off on disrespecting the ladies.
H***r_d*h 147 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 As for the high-end prostitution, I cannot fatham making that kind of money. $12,000 for three hours. Holy smokes! I guess that was in the days of Enron, Worldcomm, etc. But those days are gone..... Shoot, actually they're not. I completely forgot about the stimulus and bank bailout packages. I guess you'll just have to move down to the states. I believe GS was handing out Billions in pay raises and bonuses last week. $12,000 for 3 hrs? Cheap bastards! BTW Mandalay, you're the first one on my list as soon as I find the Madoff billions. I'll even add another big O, I mean 0, to it  .

The ladies can feel safe here and this site is NOT appealing to any of the guys who get off on disrespecting the ladies. I would just like to add that CERB and its MOD are doing an excellent job of keeping this site hobbiest friendly as well. I just recently visited a similar site and it didn't take long for me to come accross some pretty nasty exchanges. I'm talking "let's put these two on PPV and charge for it". Having a healthy discussion and fiercely defending your position is one thing, but I felt like calling 911. This is a much more relaxed, productive and stimulating site. So a BIG thank you and ata boy to you MOD. <retrieve cookie here X> PS. No I'm not a shill.
H***r_d*h 147 Report post Posted July 27, 2009 This is what I meant when I said it is an insult when an extremely rich person pays a girl $300. I wish I could become a high-end madame :) I totally agree with you. It's a matter of proportion. For someone extremely rich to pay a girl $300 is like joe blow dropping a penny on the ground. It's not worth the effort to pick it up as you associate little value to it. It belittles the wonderful lady who provided the service. There's no reason to overpay, but remuneration should be in-line to one's position if they value the Lady.

Guest C*****tte Report post Posted July 28, 2009 I do know of some ladies in the USA working at those high rates. They are under the radar and have a small but loyal clientele. When people see those rates they think of a typical 40-hour work week - as in these ladies see that many hours worth of clients. Of course, in reality this is not case. Not for the very high and not even for those in my price range. The general public (and even many clients) do not see the timely and costly behind the scenes work and expenses, that go into a 1-hour appointment: advertising, website , phone (oh that one really gets up there when you regularly tour), location rental, transportation costs + time for answering requests, screening, market research. Then we have gym memberships, clothes, makeup, salon trips etc... WHat I make per hour is significantly less than what I charge. I suspect that the ladies at the very high end of the business also invest in cosmetic surgery, high end designer fashion, salon trips for each appointment and those such things because it is expected of them to look a certain way. I have to agree with Charlotte's notion here. I a going to make a slight assumption that these ladies arne't waking out of bed to get ready only an hour before their call and doing their shopping at H&M, lol
