dreamer8 510 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 The movie came out last month in a limited number of theaters scored a 59 on R.T. so I thought I would give it a try. I was surprised at the accuracy and relevancy to the actual industry (from my perspective). I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. http://www.megavideo.com/?v=T2ZJ3QE0 skip the intro or you will be out of time (72 min) and have to wait 54 mins to finish the last 5 min. if you pass the credits at the end last min the is a 1 min Easter egg
YoungStud 468 Report post Posted August 2, 2009 It's a pretty low-key movie with not much of a plot. Steven Soderbergh directed, so it's well shot and blocked. As Dreamer notes, well-researched from an escort business point of view. Sasha Grey is hot-looking (of course) but rather distant and detached throughout in the lead role for someone who is supposedly involved in a LTR with an emotionally committed BF. They only time she shows much emotion is when she receives a bad on-line review she didn't deserve. Definitely worth a watch, but not a movie of the year. I agree, worth a watch but not as rental or in the theater :) I was more interested in how well researched it was, then how well it was acted.
whiteman 14028 Report post Posted September 16, 2009 Sasha Grey did act very disinterested, but then that's how she acts in her regular porn movies too, so nothing new there. That might've been the effect Soderbergh was hoping to achieve. I wouldn't say it's a highly accurate depiction of the business. More like a stylized accuracy. Kind of like a French movie. I'm not a fan of SG's, so I'm not sure why she's got such a following. However, it is quite a coup for her that she's made the transition from porn to mainstream, something that most porn actresses dream of but of course they never achieve it. So she should be congratulated on that. However, I don't see her having very many other roles in mainstream though, other than this one, which was designed around her. Guest O***wa**W Report post Posted September 30, 2009 There are two films with this name, has anyone seen the other one? It was on the passionate eye on tv a few weeks back. It is a mockumentary.
