For the record. I declined the interview once I was told that they would not provide me with confidentiality. I never agreed to anything of mine being used and I definitely did not ask to be followed in the airport.

I am entitled to my thoughts as is anyone else, but sending me threatening emails when I am a victim in this is not fair...

And yes I am a victim, my safety well being and lively hood have been affected due to all this unwanted publicity.

I caught the end of the radio spot on the news on the way to work the other morning.

 

I had no idea, having missed the TV spot and the full interview, they "featured" some folks here in a way it was clear who they were. Shocking.

 

Some of the closed mindedness in the comments on the link on CBC also make you want to cry...

They did not of their own free will chose to expose themselves publicly on CBC. Having a website which one would have to look up on the internet if one were inclined to seek female companionship is one thing. A website which should be noted, is under their alias lifestyle name, not their real name. And that website the ladies did put on the web of their own free will, without abdicating all their privacy

But showing a companion on national news, without her consent, that reeks of stalking behaviour at it's worst. If a private citizen did that, filming a lady without her consent, the police would be paying him visit for stalking.

But CBC did it so it's ok...I think not

Any guy here who really believes this public exposure is ok, well how would he feel if the cameras managed to catch a lady with a client (maybe dinner date) and that was on CBC news. And his wife found out.

Being a lady and professional companion with a website doesn't mean she has abdicated her right to be treated with discretion, respect and her privacy respected.

And everyone here should understand that. Because this is a lifestyle founded on discretion and mutual respect

No one says that "because they only advertise on an adult site somehow its private information" It certainly is accessible to the public, if they search for that information

But just because she advertises on an adult site doesn't mean she gave someone else (the CBC) the right to hold a camera videotaping her going through an airport.

If CBC merely accessed her site through a normal internet search that is one thing (but that also means whoever accesses the site is bound by the copyright of that site)... filming her without her permission for the "news", more like just a titillating story, that's just creepy and stalkerish

You could not of said it any better! I'm all for it 100% I've done the P411 for ladies down south, and I think with this stuff that just happened(CBC crap) has put the ball into SP'S court to have a long hard look as to how they screen.

 

Screening may also deter those time wasters, BUT WILL ENSURE ladies safety which is paramount....PERIOD.

This thread has degenerated in to name calling and mud slinging from all angles. Most of which as far as I can tell has very little to do with the current thread as it does very strong personality conflicts.

 

As a client who actually lives in St. John's and visits with SP's in this city please let me provide some "legitimate" insight into what has actually occured as a result of this news story. Some of the story was indeed true St. John's and Newfoundland in general is a boom economy. There is significant excess disposible income available to enjoy lifes luxuries including the company of professional companions. Is there money to be made here? Yes! Is it a gold mine? No! Not every lady will succeed the same way.

 

What many of the people that will be reading these posts don't comprehend is our culture. Yes, our province is undergoing a transition however in most respects our province and its population are still old school puritan in their thinking. What may be considered mainstream and accepted in other cities just does not jive here. As much as Newfoundlanders would like to make people believe that we are as metropolitan as anyone else it's simply not the case.

 

Over the past few days this story has generated significant debate and discussion on radio shows and around water coolers. What they all are talking about is not, Emily, Kiessy or any other lady by name. It's not their websites. What everyone talks about is just a couple of statements made by the SP that was interviewed. First one is the $28000 in three week statement which was made in a in your face bragging way. I know there might be debate about the figures but that's irrelevant. The amounts are out there and quite frankly shocked the public into listening to the rest of the information (CBC knew this would happen it's the attention grabber). Second, it was the truthful but perceived boastful comment that, "SP's are filling the need that wives and girlfriends can't" (paraphrase).

 

People were shocked and like a cold bucket of water to the face were awakened to this industry in it own back yard. People will now look for it where they didn't before.

 

People here took those comments that were made directly by the interviewed SP (not CBC) as somewhat offensive and an afront to the beliefs of our province as a people. Now I don't believe that the SP that was interviewed had any intention to blab out things that ad fuel to fires but CBC journalists are specifically trained to ask questions that will lead you and get them the juicy amswers they want (the sound bites). I have received weeks of media training and I would be extremely cautious on sitting down with a reporter that surely had an agenda. The reporter will not stop until he has a story and he will lead you to say things that you would never normally say. It is for this reason I believe that this SP or any SP (including Emily)should avoid being put in a position of having to answer questions.

 

Due to the firestorm that has ensued from this interview and news story the prostution scene is now under a microscope in St. John's. Everyone involved will have to really be looking over their shoulder wondering if now we have a sting happening. They smell blood in the water because sex sells therefore they will milk this for all they can for the next little while.

 

I have an appointment to meet a lady tomorrow and quite frankly I'm nervous about it where I wasn't before. Sure ladies that got singled out have reason to be concerned now but I'm sure that eventually it'll be ok again.

 

We had a good thing going here, ladies made good money, clients were happy and excited with all the visits from touring ladies and the hotels were happy with all the discreet business. With all this brought front and centre it just makes it more difficult for everyone which is what none of us wants. The best most discrete hotel in the city has been compromised now by a lady who doesn't even use it. If she was so free and open why did she not use her own incall location instead of compromising the location for many others. It's just bad all around.

 

This has very much pissed me off that someone could be so careless with the safety of clients and SP's.

 

As for the antics of CBC being underhanded, it's to be expected, they're scum and probably lurking this post right now. They'll never let ethics get in the way of a good story.

I think that we can agree or disagree Two victims here had their privacy invaded..one had to put her site down which will most likely affect her living hood..my intentioned weren't to biker..but to point out some similar points of thinking..

I think for now we will have screen more heavily and be selective of who we share touring info with.

Ill step in here, he's not a shill or a shit disturber, in fact he was a long time member before. He left the board after the story aired as it was too close to home.

Hopefully when this all dies down he will rejoin the board as in NFLD he was a valid contributor.
