Trucker charged after naked woman escapes rig

A 54 year old Quebec man faces a sexual assault charge in Moncton court today after a naked woman fled from a transport truck and was assisted by passersby.

RCMP say witnesses reported seeing a young woman running through a parking lot near (Church Street and Mountain Road in Moncton) away from a transport truck April 25. The woman was not wearing any clothes and was screaming for help. Several people came to her aid, but the truck took off before police arrived. Codiac RCMP investigated and identified a suspect from the south shore of Montreal. Maurice Cloutier of Sainte-Martine, Quebec, will be in court in Moncton charged with aggravated sexual assault and forcible confinement.

A 54-year-old truck driver from Quebec has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 24-year-old Moncton woman a few weeks ago.

Maurice Cloutier entered the plea in court in Moncton on Tuesday morning. A charge of forcible confinement was dropped.

Cloutier was initially charged with aggravated sexual assault and forcible confinement following the incident on April 25 in Moncton.

Witnesses called 911 after they saw a young woman running naked through a parking lot near the intersection of Church Street and Mountain Road.

Police say the woman was escaping from a transport truck and screaming for help. The transport truck left the scene before police could stop it.

Cloutier was located by Quebec police on Wednesday. His truck was searched and he was arrested.

Cloutier will be back in court for sentencing on June 24
