curious2 323 Report post Posted August 10, 2009 I've been going to clubs since the early 90's. Sure, the dances used to be $10, but the girl stood on her little step-stool thingy and danced 3 feet away from you. I thought it was great when the $20 lap dances started. I happily became addicted to touching, and would hate to move somewhere like Calgary or New York City where you can't touch at all! I can't say I've ever timed a song exactly, as I've always thought of the music as sort of inconsequential to the experience anyway. There's absolutely no doubt that strip clubs are an expensive form of entertainment. But Pigale's on a Friday afternoon is ridiculously busy, as is the Nuden on Saturday night (with a guy in the bathroom now to hand you a towel and stick his hand out for a tip), so I think the shortage of customers is being overstated. Nice to hear that the clubs are doing well in Ottawa! I remember being down south USA(Florida and South Carolina) at strip clubs, there was no touchy, feel that sort of good time with gorgeous ladies, in fact they left their panties on, the songs were always cut, and the costs to get in, get seated, get a drink..would break you in a heart beat. BTW there was guys in the wash room too! doing the same...but they were watching t.v. not watching you..handing out breath mints, gum, combs, aftershave you name it he had it..now for some reason ...I just can't picture a dude at the NUDEN doing the same, hopefully his eyes were watching something else other then you going for a leak.

I happily became addicted to touching, and would hate to move somewhere like Calgary or New York City where you can't touch at all! The step-stools were in the days of the $5 dance. When VIP rooms came in the dances were $10 & they were not from 3 feet away! The $20 'contact' dance started in the mid 90's on the Quebec side and some years later the Ottawa clubs followed. The price doubled to $20 but the mileage increased to 'petting zoo' level. Unfortunately, this basically forced a lot of nice hot dancers to leave the business. I've been to the clubs in both decades & business has dropped off quite noticeably.
curious2 323 Report post Posted August 16, 2009 Unfortunately, this basically forced a lot of nice hot dancers to leave the business. Definitely not true from my perspective! The girls used to have big bushes too, which some people (like, say, SA! :-D) find attractive but I don't. I'm definitely way more of a fan of the strip club scene now than I used to be! I wish I was around (going to SCs) then. Damn Playboy for this all shaved kitty fashion:-D. They ruined it for us. What is next. All shaved head:cry: since this is becoming a fashion for young guys. I should say that based on a poll I conducted on both boards about 20% of men have strong preference for unshaved kitties (I am not alone). IT IS SO SEXY to gradually pull down the panty and see the hair. The kitty appears much larger too. It is grown there for a purpose like everything else on the body. I think there are several factors in the trend towards shaved pussies in the escort, massage and dance trade over the past couple of decades 1) desire to avoid crab lice, which, as escorts became more sophisticated about health risks, lead to a hairless pussy (or no more than light landing strip) fashion trend (no place for the little buggers to hide - lol) 2) the constant promotion of pre-pubescent women in mainstream ads and fashion helped promote the "hairless schoolgirl fantasy" (which I'm not into personally but exists on a lot of subtle levels in this business.) 3) the prevalence of shaved pussies in porn (probably for the above two reasons), which is now everywhere, thanks to the Internet and DVDs, and the desire of providers to give their clients the mass-media developed fantasies they expect Personally, shared, bushy or in-between, I loved 'em all as long as they're clean and tasty. But if it is kept clean why there should be crab lice in there??. I am myself totally unshaved but shower everyday and same applies to ladies, escorts, dancers or otherwise. I mean even shaved if not kept clean there is potential for bacterial growth and bugs and the same applies to hair on the head for both genders. Like yourself clean and tasty kitty is the requirement for me too but if also unshaved then it will really turns me on and sometimes I have to offer healthy amount to convince my favorite dancers to stop shaving for a few weeks and come and dance for me in private. My point, if a lady escort stops shaving she will be suddenly popular and in demand with some 20% of ALL THE GUYS. There is not a single action that a lady can take (other than growing pubic hair) that can make her popular with so many guys within the span of a few weeks (not to mention the trouble of shaving everyday, potential injuries, etc.). In the strip club world at least in the states back in the day (not sure about Canada) the g-string had to cover all pubic hair. Ladies would shave to be able to wear the smaller g-strings. JuliaOttawa 131 Report post Posted August 17, 2009 On another note, sociologists have observed that the amount of pubic hair on a population is often reflective of how tolerable the society is of nudity. I've found this to be very true. eg. Muslims are commanded to shave the pubic area, if you google nudist pictures they will likely have bushes, I've also noted that French girls are more likely to have some pubic hair than English-speaking girls at the strip clubs I work in. Obviously French-Canadian culture embraces nudity more than us English-speakers.
curious2 323 Report post Posted August 17, 2009 eg. Muslims are commanded to shave the pubic area I wonder if there's a SAERB board out there with a strip club section for the very short discussion that would be tolerated?
EldrickWoods 100 Report post Posted August 17, 2009 Pigales was one of the stops on Boyz nights. This was from about 2000-2006. I did notice the last time I went , after the reno that the songs became shorter. That's when I stopped going. I spent 100-140 bucks on Dances and felt ripped off. I even had one sit and talk to me then ask for money. I refused. She threatened me and called her bluff and we both went on our way. I've noticed fewer guys going to the rippers these days and it's not just my age. I play hockey with a few 20 somethings and they don't go either. Other than stag nights it's just not cool anymore. Personally, I hope they disappear.
curious2 323 Report post Posted August 17, 2009 Other than stag nights it's just not cool anymore. Personally, I hope they disappear. Go to the Nuden on Saturday night and try to find a parking spot. Or Pigale's for lunch on Friday. I'm sure a lot of regular bars wish they were also "uncool" like that.
francblack 101 Report post Posted August 24, 2009 IMHO Pigale's has been for years, and still is, the best place in Ottawa-Gatineau to go see some beauties in a classy atmosphere. Happy hour and buffets, variety of international sweeties, clean place, accessible location... Go with a few friends every few months and treat one another to a couple dances. Make sure you've a designated driver. Go home to your sweetie and bang her brains out. It's all good! 8-)

Peachka 4334 Report post Posted September 1, 2009 How many dancers can one expect on a Friday at 1 pm? Still $5 cover? Friday's there would be 15-20 dancers at that time. There is not a cover charge until the evening.

Salicia23 101 Report post Posted September 28, 2009 Ok, I had to respond to this- I have worked at Pigales for a few years and the songs have been timed at 3.5 minutes each for as long as I've worked there! I think this is more than fair to both the girls and customers. You can get $10 'table dances' upstairs for a normal song length if you really hate the 'short songs'! Something one of you said about a girl trying to charge you for talking made me think of the guys who come downstairs and want to stall and 'chat' while the songs are playing and expect to be able to rub our legs or whatever for FREE until they feel 'ready' for us to start dancing. Uh uh.. I don't mind waiting till a fresh song if one is already playing when we get down there, but I feel it's rude of you guys to get mad that we don't want to spend time for free downstairs even if we are 'just talking'. At the same time, I really resent other dancers ripping guys off in the champagne rooms. It happens way too frequently, and it makes us all look bad. If you wanna be super careful, ask the girl after each song or two how many that was, just so you know and if she tries to jack up the prices, leave and you can dispute her for it. If you know you're right and she's lying she will usually back down.. I've heard it happen many times unfortunately. The bouncers are sick of dealing with this handful of girls who constantly have run-ins with clients over the number of dances so they will probably be on your side. They have these triangle boxes semi-installed downstairs that are supposed to track the number of dances done, but I'm not sure why they haven't started using them yet. That might save some headaches and confusion! This is sort of another topic, but some of you seem to think that the short song lengths are what have brought business down. I totally disagree, I think it's the newer trashier dancers who have started working at the club who have brought it down somewhat. There has been a huge increase in girls who are trashy, on drugs, being pimped so they're desparate to make $$, etc. Look around next time and you can probably see a big difference between these girls and the older girls (I mean ones who have been there longer). This brings in more guys expecting to get their dicks rubbed instead of a lap dance, and they are less willing to spend a decent amount of money on dances. I applaud you guys who are calling escorts instead of harrassing dancers in clubs for 'extras'. It is pathetic to see these guys trolling in our club, they have no shame. Whew, ok it felt good to add my 2 cents. :)
Guest blo*****s Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Maybe it is time for the champagne rooms to be equipped with digital timers that can be started by the girl, and is easily visible to both parties, so there can be no disputes over time/songs/whatever. Yes, a few bad ones ruin it for the good ones - but I can still remember the day when a song was a song - regardless of length. And....yes, I realize it is a business where the dancer wants to make money, but come on - get serious - do you really despise being in the champagne room so much that you need every incentive possible to hurry up, make your money, and get the @#$ outta there ? Now that's just "my" .
curious2 323 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Digital timers--sounds super-clinical and unappealing at first, but it would actually be a good idea to avoid disputes. I've only been "upcounted" once (not at Pigales), and that would have been useful. Posted via Mobile Device

Now that's just "my" .02 ^Ya I realize I might have come across kind of b*tchy, but I find there are some guys who like to try and strrreeeeetch out the time spent 'free' downstairs as much as they can. They'll agree to go downstairs for a dance, so the dancer take them down, leaving all other possibilities of making money upstairs, and then when they sit down they start rubbing us or want us to sit on their lap and "get to know each other" for a song or two. To me, that's not really fair. But it's totally up to each dancer how she wants to spend her time obviously. Like I said, I think it's only fair for dancers to wait until a new song starts before they begin dancing, but some guys make it a game to sit down there longer than that before the dancer technically begins 'charging' him. Guest blo*****s Report post Posted September 30, 2009 I think that the main issue here is that nobody likes to feel they are being taken advantage of - that includes the customer, and also the dancer. My original post in this thread was to express how I felt that Pigale's was taking advantage of me by forcing every song to be a certain length - even cutting off a song before it was finished, to start another one. That had simply not happened to me anywhere else, so I noticed it right away and obviously felt ripped off. I think digital timers (although cold and impersonal - kinda like a taxi ride) would be a fair solution to the issue - but then again, it has to be perceived as a problem by "both" sides of an arguement to actually be a viable solution. I guess we'll just have to see what changes come to the industry, however my experience at Pigales with the short songs has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I will not return - that bridge has burned.
