Pet Peeves -anything and everything -but respect CERB rules

Recommended Posts

Inspired by events that occurred this morning. Feel free to add. These have nothing to do with the SP or client roles though I'm sure there is an extensive list, perhaps in people's minds.

  1. Drivers, cruising below the speed limit in perfect weather.
  2. Changing lanes with no turn signal
  3. Combine 1 and 2 above - WTF
  4. The person 5 cars ahead in the Tim Horton's drive through ordering breakfast for what seems like 12 people and then paying with a credit card.

Everyone's input welcome.

I second the pet peeve of changing lanes without using a turn signal and add the turning without signaling.

I am a runner and when cars turn when I have the right of way it is frustrating and very dangerous! Give me a sign drivers. Please!

Someone who takes up two parking spots near the mall entrance because they're more important than everyone else. If you don't want to chance your car door getting dinged at the mall, park further away and WALK.

Also, I sympathise with SPs in terms of hygiene. I go to casinos once in a while and just love it :x when I can smell the next player coming. And this is at the higher limit tables. Even more enticing is when they turn to talk to me and knock me off my chair. Dang! Ever heard of a toothbrush?

My biggest pet peeve. Is when one person. Takes up the hole sidewalk and does not have the courtesy to move. Even after you say excuse me.

Currently, at least here in the US, having to explain the endless stream of commercials for Viagra, Cialis, etc to my pre-teen children.

Not that I ever adhere to the speed limit, but some law abiding folks out there get really peeved at those who consider the speed limit to be the minimum. Bloody do-gooders!

Someone covered this in a rant before, but lack of manners and politeness bothers the heck out of me.

-neglecting to say thank you when a door is held open

-dropping a door in peoples faces

-hogging priority seating on public transit

-treating people like dirt because you feel more important then them. This one I see often as I bring customers to nice restaurants quite a bit, some of the VP's and directors I bring out are the rudest most condescending people I have ever met. if I didn't want (actually need) their money I would have choice words for them, generally I give an extra big tip, put my best face forward when dealing with the server and try to make an apology when we leave (out of earshot). Sometimes they see me being extra polite and turn it around, generally not so much.

-general lack of respect is my biggest pet peeve.

Pet Peeves:

Guys who don't wash their hands when they come visit me, but then want to finger.

Guys with hairy balls who want me to lick them - yeeech!

People who salt their food before they taste it.

People who are rude to sales clerks/customer service reps - yeah like it's their fault!

People who butt ahead of elderly or disabled people to get on the bus.

Parents who don't teach their children to say please or thank you.

People who are NOT escorts telling ME what it's all about.

People who smoke native cigarettes

I could go on, but discourteous drivers is definitely up there.

  • When I was escorting, my pet peeves were men who would go into the shower and not even touch the soap to their armpit or genital areas. They thought a "rinse off" - like what you'd do at a public pool - was fine without any need to clean themselves (and they needed soap!). This only happened twice, but truly made me shake my head.
  • Aggresssive shoppers who take up entire isles, cut in front of you at the checkout and take forever to count their money or find their credit cards.
  • People on other message boards who attack others without even knowing them - or based on gossip provided by others.

Some woman in front of you in line at a cash register. When the clerk rings everything through and announces the total the woman then decides to lift up her purse, open it, root through it, find her wallet, decide amongst 5 different payment cards, try to pay, forget her VISA security PIN number, switch to her Mastercard and then checks the bill over, finally signs and then goes through the whole process of putting everything back. When she's finally done she then shoulders her purse, asks the clerk to double bag a couple of things and then finally moves on.

During that time the line is now 6 people deep and the clerk has to page for more cashiers up front.

Arggghhh, hey it ain't global warning but is sure is a pet peeve.

E-mail etiquette has come a long way with the advent of emoticons 8), but my biggest peeve is the abuse of Caps, either in the entire message or for emphasis. Caps is for shouting and underline or bold is for emphasis.

Also, I hate when someone replies to an e-mail and doesn't answer your question...usually because they are too busy. Texting or chat are one thing, but spending a little time to form complete sentences and completing the "conversation" in e-mails is just common courtesy...IMHO.

When a person butts into a conversation without pausing for a second to listen to the subject first

(their words are more important than anyone elses ??).

Is this the confident, assertive personality I keep hearing about ?

When persons stand in a doorway to "converse" and expect (or oblivious to) others that have to wiggle by them. If you comment in any way, they give you a dumb whaaaat ? look. I call it, situational awareness, which few people have.

My pet peeves other than the ones mention

The car who is first inline in the left-hand turning lane who is sleeping when they get a green arrow.

The car who wants to turn left in the next lane but thinks he is driving a bus and veers right into my lane to make a wide left sweeping turn.

The car from out of province who insists on driving in the left lane. The left lane is used for passing in Quebec even if you are doing 150km. Let the guy behind you go by.

While waiting to get a parking spot at a mall, the person who sees you waiting, but insists on getting in their car, adjusting the seats, adjusting their mirrors, lighting up a cigarette while talking on their cell phone and then realizing that they have to do up their seat belt. Ahhhhhh

You can tell I'm one of those crazy impatient Quebec drivers.

My pet peeves...

The person on public transit who talks LIKE THIS when they are on the phone.

People who find it necessary to remind me that smoking is bad for my health. I saw the filmstrips. I got the message.

People who knock on my door at 8 am on a Sunday to tell me about Jesus. I saw the movie. I read the book. Thanks anyway.

Rainy day drivers who think theres a law requiring them to drive through every deep puddle that might possibly reach the sidewalk.

There is a basic rule to driving, anyone slower than you is a moron and anyone faster is an idiot!

A second rule to driving, if the other persons car is in a space either on the road or parked that you want to occupy they are an A-Hole, until they get out of way and then they are courteous!

Similar to not signalling when changing lanes, my minor irritant is when people brake, then signal that they are turning. Why bother signalling after braking?

And for me buffer words are another irritant: like, you know, f***ing this or that, words that indicate a stall in the brain processing.

OMG!! Don't get me going!! What I hate is the "saunterer" You know the A hole who has no clue that there are other people around who actually have somewhere to be and on time at that.

Two examples

a. I'm coming out of Tim's and this woman ahead of me is moving slow...like crawling...her spouse is outside having a smoke or something and she opens the door and stops in the doorway...looking around etc....I nearly barrel into her with my hot coffee in hand...."excuse me," I say (probably with an air of annoyance)...she looks left and right....where the fuck does she think someone saying excuse me would be but behind her fat ass?! She moves slightly but not quickly and I manage to squeeze by....cheez some people

b. people who not only converse in the doorway but smoke in the doorway too....you have to walk through the smoke and wiggle past them...RUDE!!

Drivers....it's not just Quebec where you're supposed to use the right lane for passing only.. that's the rule universally...Ottawa drivers haven't gotten the memo....West bound Queensway there are people who drive, below the speed limit in the outside lane in rush hour from downtown to the 416/417 split cause eventually they have to get over to exit left grrrr....East bound same for the 174/417 split......drives me insane!!!
