Johnny Canuck 5347 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Pretty much all of Pink Floyd's The Wall & The Final Cut albums are a protest of WWII and war in general. A lot of it had to do with how Roger Waters father went off to war and never returned.
cyclo 30131 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) Marvin Gaye - What's Going On http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph0aELhsQoc By the way, this is a rare live version of Marvin singing at the Motown Anniversary. It shows what a fantastic singer he is... his range, expressiveness, tone, smooth to raspy, improvising on the melody. When I close my eyes and dream that I can sing (I can't :( ) this is what I'd want to sound like. Guest ***nsut***jr Report post Posted June 4, 2013 This is not a protest song but I'm going to throw it in here because it's interesting (to me anyway) and there is a bit of insight how it may have felt being of the right age to go to war back in the late 60's. I think it pretty clearly illustrates that no matter what disagreements or difference of opinions we may have, being exposed to the reality of war can unite people against it. Only the first 5 minutes are relevant and its not a song but a good story that maybe you can take something from even if you are not a fan of the artist. Bruce Springsteen's Intro to the River live.
