steveyK 4311 Report post Posted June 19, 2013 So I'm driving home from work, and the guy on the radio comes on about this survey, and I think, I fit in to this survey!! I thought it would be great fodder to see what a CERB survey would produce.... So, where do you fit?? My answers at the bottom!! What does a cheating husband look like? According to a new survey by AshleyMadison.com -- a dating site for married people looking to have affairs -- he's likely in his 40s, been married for over 10 years and has two children over 10 years old. Of the 11,453 fathers surveyed (all of whom have accounts on the website), the largest percentage of would-be cheaters work in the IT/Engineering field, a career that's moved up on the list since placing fifth in 2010's survey. Here's the full round-up of occupations that harbor the most cheating husbands: IT/Engineer (10.6%) Financial Industry (8.2%) Education (6.5%) Doctors (4.6%) Lawyers (3.8%) What about cheating wives? In May, the site polled 2,865 of their married female members and found that the typical cheating married woman was in her 30s, married for five years or less and had a daughter under three years old. She is also likely to be a teacher, a stay-at-home mom or work in the medical industry, according to a representative from Ashleymadison.com I started late 40's. I had 3 kids over 10. I am in the Financial Industry. This is just for fun, so all good comments please!! It should be interesting!!!!!

roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted June 19, 2013 Single, so I don't really have any stats to contribute. I am really surprised about the professions. Engineering/IT being at the top. And lawyers being at the bottom. The lawyers and engineering/IT guys all lied on the form. Lawyers didn't want to look bad and the engineers/IT guys wanted to get away from their bookish "computer geek" image and answer like they have a fun life LOL RG
PhantomKnight 7914 Report post Posted June 20, 2013 Clearly the military wasn't surveyed in this one. Haha. Cheating is horrible within the military. Hell especially with military wives.
Amelia Fox 9064 Report post Posted June 20, 2013 Clearly the military wasn't surveyed in this one. Haha. Cheating is horrible within the military. Hell especially with military wives. This I know to be true. I have many many military friends both male and female and must say the majority cheat or have cheated while deployed or Td to a ship out of there area. My first ever "client" was back in my first year of school, I met him while waitressing at a diner he frequented. He gave me his business card and it went from there and continued for my entire bachelors associate's degree ( four years.) He was a family court lawyer. Engineers are topping the list? Humm. Good food fo though SteveyK. Great post doll ')

Gia Wren Marlowe 67985 Report post Posted June 22, 2013 I'm not sure how reliable the results are relating the the fields the men work in. The men surveyed were all on ashleymaddison, correct? So most of those fields seem to be male-dominated. It may be that men in other fields are more likely to be cheating with co-workers than going online to find an affair. I suspect men in other occupations actually cheat at around the same rate.

I agree that membership to a web site will skew the results towards people who have access and are comfortable with computers. Now, if you'll permit me to put my nerd cap on... The job and age group suggests that these are successful men (higher-level jobs, seniority) whose spouse are reaching menopause (being of similar age), and offspring who no longer need constant supervision/protection. Put a "great ape" brain in that male, and there's a drive to to find another fertile female (his social status suggesting he could woo another one) and start another family unit while he still can. I haven't looked at the women's stats as closely, but it could look like looking for a second batch of offspring while she still can, while being in a safe social situation (with the spouse providing for the existing kids). I don't see humans as naturally monogamous, but that is probably getting even more off-topic...
