Ironsman1 1461 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Hi everyone, Would you be able to tell me which hotels downtown Ottawa are good for SPs to stay in if they were visiting Ottawa? They need to be nice, discreet, and no room card needed to use the elvators. I have been to the Lord Elgin, Chateau Laurier, Minto Hotel, and The Delta for hobbying, and they were all pretty good. Can anyone confirm that those are still SP friendly? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.
Guest S****r Report post Posted June 24, 2013 The main thing is for the SP to be discreet: low traffic, quiet at the door, stay out of sight of the hallway when opening door, etc. Most work out with no problem. Two that I do NOT recommend, though, are the Comfort Inn on Rideau and King Edward, because you must walk past the main desk, in a small space, in order to enter. So it is not very discreet. Also, the Business Inn on Cooper, because a client must walk past TWO security desks, and actually be buzzed in by the second one, to access the hotel rooms. Which is too bad because I liked their rooms the best! Included not only free wifi, but a computer/printer setup in the room! BTW, the Lord Elgin does NOT have free wifi, so I decided to stop going there after a few times, when I was using hotels. Someone pointed out that hotels that have a restaurant, bar, shops, etc. on the first level are also better because if a friend or co-worker sees a client walking into the building, the client can pretend he is just going to the restaurant or shop, and not into a hotel room. Guest Miss Jane TG Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I would be hesitant as a provider to divulge in an open forum the hotels that are SPs friendly. All what it takes is that we point them out loud and they become known and change their "friendly" policy!
Guest C**Tra****er Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I can say, from staying at Les Suites and Novotel, that both require key cards for the elevator.
canuckhooker 19203 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 This is not a new thread topic and in fact has been open several times. Most downtown hotels are SP friendly. The Marriott on Kent and the new Delta (old Crowne Plaza) are good because you can enter from the mall or parking underneath and never go past the front desk. As for not discussing, it has been discussed at length. I have worked in at least one of the hotels mentioned earlier in the thread, and they know who the working people are, and really don't care as long as you don't cause issues. They want the room full, not empty.

Guest c**io**m7 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 As a local, I am looking for a hotel close to downtown with reasonable day rates. There is a local lady who is outcall only but, I would like to see her. Any recommendations?
Cowboy kenny 50799 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 In addition to those listed here are a few more that are reasonably priced, clean and sp friendly with regard to easy and discrete access, access to some after 12 midnight may require buzzing to get in but otherwise for daytime and evening play they're great. The chateau is rather pricey and rarely offers deals so any provider working from there may charge more to cover there additional costs. Chimo on St Laurent Albert at Bay Suites Radison Queen & Bay National Queen & Bay Extended Stay Cooper & Cartier Holiday Inn Cooper & Cartier Marriot Queen & Kent Indigo Laurier & Metcalfe These are outside the downtown core but also sp friendly and reasonably priced. Hilton Lac Lemay Ramada Casino Chateau Cartier Keep in mind though that Ottawa is a tourist destination so pricing and availability can be costly and difficult around certain festivals over the summer period.

The only one I know of with day rates is the WelcomeInn, and I think maybe also the Comfort Inn, both not downtown but not too far, they're across from St Laurent Mall

Sorry, but I though that the OP was looking for hotels that are SPs friendly for providers to conduct business from and not the other way around. Just a clarification! All you have to do is ask. I have gotten day rooms at the Marriott and the Delta. They love to rent a room out twice in 24 hours. Just say you need a place to hold a meeting or meetings. This is something that happens all the time. I think I got a King sized room with an amazing view at the Marriott for about $90.

Gru's Minion Kevin 140 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I think the best hotel for SP to host incalls is the Minto. You never have to walk past reception there as you can take the escalator to the second floor and take the elevator form there. You can also discreetly call the SP from the food court down below. The new Delta, and the National are also good.

kb649 110 Report post Posted July 21, 2013 Hi all. My first post, so nervous cuz the Mods are going to review this post closely...here goes. The downtown hotels were covered really well and definitely added variety to my previous choices of Lord Elgin and Minto. Thanks all. I am an East-ender. Can we expand this out to East end (say, east of Rideau River) to cover options for SPs as well as those of us who would like to entertain Outcall providers (but who lack private swinging bachelor pads)?Cowboy Kenny reminded me of a good one I have used before (Chimo at St. Laurent) Maybe there are others worth noting? Criteria much the same as mentioned by others, like: -no front desk observation. -outside room access (park and enter) -no roomkey elevators or doors -half-day or hourly rates (no probing questions-asked) -cash transactions (ideally without much credit card or personal info taken) -reasonable cost (more donations to the ladies and less to the innkeeper) -clean (cheap is good but not if smells etc ruin the mood) -discreet from road and from heavy public viewing Naturally for West-enders and Southerners, coverage of their areas might be helpful as well. Cheers.
Cute0aza0Button 21399 Report post Posted July 22, 2013 I love the delta and the mariott myself. The delta rooms are clean and modern, the pool is beautiful and the gym is new. It is also very conference oriented so nobody looks twice at people walking in and out. The mariott wins in my opinion though. It is renovated but in an older style. It also has a great pool and a nicer gym plus a really cool roof top patio. The restaurant is amazing and decently priced whereas the I find the delta's stuffy and over priced. The rooms at the mariott are much bigger, more open, huge windows and (some) have balconies. It is also conference oriented so discrete
roamingguy 300292 Report post Posted July 22, 2013 I think people are getting worried and making way too much of this walking past the front desk. For all the front desk staff know, you checked in when they were off shift. I have gone by the front desks of hotels many a time, including one where the front desk is more situated in a hallway you have to walk through to get to the elevators. I just walked by like I belonged there never questioned. Staff are used to seeing people come and go, even for a romantic rendezvous ;-) hey that's life. Just walk into the hotel like you belong there. The only way you'll get questioned is if you draw attention to yourself. If hotels started questioning everyone, guests and guests of guests, they'd soon be out of business RG

There is nothing terribly 'upscale' out there, the Chimo is your best bet. However, both east end hotels I mentioned earlier, the WelcomeInn and Comfort Inn, right by the Chimo, have first-floor rooms that can be accessed from from outside, so your guest never even has to walk into the hotel, just right into the room. They are low-cost and decent.. again, nothing terribly nice, but sufficient.
xxxAxxx 21016 Report post Posted July 22, 2013 I always use the Chimo when hosting my little "parties" because it is close to my east end home, minutes away from downtown via the 417, 3min walk to St laurent shopping center...very discreet, nice enough suites ( I don't know about their regular rooms).... prices are decent...There is a restaurant/pub in the lobby etc.
sledder 496 Report post Posted July 25, 2013 I actually watch for sp's at the Chimo, the new Hampton(and the one attached to it) on Coventry, to a lesser extent the little hotels by the Chimo that Cleo mentioned. Also Travel Lodge on Carling, anything near 417, & anything but dt hotels, they are just not convenient whatsoever for the hobbiest, unless he works down there and can walk. Also hotels in southend, the one Rebecca is at is perfect. Also, most of these hotels have some form of retail or restaurant, Timmy's, etc so it facilitates parking if you choose to be discreet. I never could understand why most sp's work out of dt hotels - there are many ladies I would love to see, and can, I just don't have the time & patience to deal with dt traffic, parking, those idiotic bike lanes, etc. Do some of you guys feel the same way?
Cozmic 250 Report post Posted July 26, 2013 I would tend to agree, however as I do work downtown this would be much more convenient for me. The perfect picker upper for the afternoon doldrums. =).
sledder 496 Report post Posted July 26, 2013 I prefer afternoon weekdays as well but if it's dt and late aft the traffic to get out of dt is a pain no matter which way you are going! But wait, LRT will solve all that - NOT!
