Fresh start 17467 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Technology today had changed a lot in the past couple of decades. Most of us have growned dependant to it some probably couldn't live without. Wether its computer, cell phones, other electronics, cosmetics anything you can't live without what is it? Personally my iphone would be one of those things. Use for work Email Internet Main way I go on cerb. Banking As dumb as it sounds my heated/cooling leather car seats. First vehicle I've had that had them but I absolutely love it. No more frozen ass cheeks in the winter or burnt legs or other skin in the summer. What's yours?
Nicolette Vaughn 294340 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I could not live without the internet. If we could all travel back to past decades for just one day knowing what the future holds, I doubt many of us couldn't handle not going without some advanced technological device that we use day in and day out. lol.
Cleo Catra 178382 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I could live without all of it. It's one of my favourite things about traveling, being away from it all. I've had times in Guatemala and in Australia where there was literally no technology, and it was wonderful. Your brain relaxes. You pick up a book for entertainment. You talk, sit by the fire, watch the sunset. It's great.

Guest ChantalSummers Report post Posted June 24, 2013 For me it would be music. I just wouldn't be able to do without it. It helps me start my day, work out, have a great time at parties and get-togethers, dance (haha obviously lol), relax and chill, and sleep at night. I like all kinds but mainly house, electro, trance, and 80's rock & pop. This is a great idea for a thread btw. It's an awesome icebreaker and a good way to get to know people :). Guest jake_cdn Report post Posted June 24, 2013 For me it has to be my iPad and e-Reader both are invaluable to me and allow me to be as portable as I want and still have the comforts that I need. The other thing is this board. The people and interaction here make it easy to obtain and share information and it is greatly appreciated. Many of us would still be in the dark if it were not for the information shared here.
Brad 49548 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Internet for me as well. Most of my friends these days are not local and it's what lets me stay in touch and create/maintain those friendships. Plus, it drives me crazy when I can't think of an actor's name, so I'd miss IMDB. And porn. But yeah, mostly it's about staying connected with friends.

spud271 47779 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I can easily live without it all and have before. Not a massive fan of technology, I mostly put up with it rather than embrace it. I still prefer a map and compass over a gps, actually cook something on the stove than use the microwave...etc. Not that I don't have all the gadgets, but I can easily live without them. I'll sometimes just take off in to the woods and build a lean-to instead of using a tent just to clear my mind. That's more my style ;).
IsaMassage 54318 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 Definetey the |Internet, and my smart phone.. Specially since they have become important tools for Work .. also to add the fact that my family all live miles away and these tools give me the posibility of being in touch with them.. And in a much deeped thought I could not live with out friends and family, being alone, perhaps without freedom... not being able to meet new people everyday and share times with other human beings...
Luckyme 41401 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 No doubt for me it's the Internet. We have come a long way since the National Capital Freenet era. I just could not imagine living without it now. Shopping on line, on-line banking, bill-payment, emailing, etc., and last, but not least, surfing and participating in this cerb community and hobbying will not be possible.
Nippongakki 3843 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 PVR! I'm a big TV nerd and I work nights (when all the best shows are on) and I can't even remember what life was like without it! I can't remember the last time I watched a commercial (aside from live sports which really should be viewed live)! That is the one thing I couldn't live without. Don't get me wrong, I like my iPhone and my iPad and Internet porn just fine but if I had to choose one (tech) thing it would be my HDTV with PVR.
Mister T 45020 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 While i'm pretty much glued to my smartphone and the net (they're great to pick up news on the go or pay bills, do a bit of research), being recently away from it all for a week made me just slow down and relax. I hadn't read a complete book for a long while. Its just great feeling to set those aside once in a while. I have to admit, though, having my entire music collection on my laptop is great; it makes it easy to find something without thumbing through a pile of cd's. Having grown up with tv, I've dumped cable a few months ago and am quite happy to be living without it. I've never much seen the use of some of the technological gadgets out there (especially those with a 1000 and 1 options), a few simple items will do the job for me.
cat 262460 Report post Posted June 24, 2013 I love being unplugged so losing the internet and smartphone wouldn't be a problem. What I can't live without are... Elevators - I hate stairs and can't imagine carrying groceries up to my kitchen. Keurig - For the first time in my life, I have drinkable coffee that I MADE! Dishwasher - My kitchen would never be clean iPod - I love the selection and ease. Otherwise I listen to the same thing over and over Magic Bullet - Couldn't imagine a morning without a smoothie or endless margaritas. cat
Guest realnicehat Report post Posted June 24, 2013 You pick up a book for entertainment. What is this "book" you speak of? I'm pretty sure I could quickly adapt back to the ancient ways if all of these technological advances disappeared. In fact, I'd probably be better for it. Watching TV, googling, and texting at the same time has left me with the attention span of a fruit fly. I find at times I struggle even to finish a sente One thing I would hate to lose is the digital camera. I love taking photos, and while I think I have a decent eye, my photography skills aren't great. I do not miss the days of getting back the prints of a 24 exposure film and finding one decent pic. To be able to shoot like a mad man and edit in post has been a godsend.

Guest D***el B***e Report post Posted June 25, 2013 (edited) Couldn't live without the internet. I don't need a smartphone but internet in general, yes, I need. I gave up on cable 20 years ago. I have a $45 digital antenna on my roof, I pick up 18 free full-spectrum HD channels. Image resolution is stunning, nothing like the compressed signal you get via cable or satellite. PhantomKnight 7914 Report post Posted June 25, 2013 My iPhone is my lifeline. When it breaks. I shut down. Nothing worse then having to resort to the original methods of contacting people. Haha. Plus. No smartphone. No Cerb! :(
IamaGeek 3664 Report post Posted June 25, 2013 I could and I have lived comfortably without technology. I still do from time to time. However, I love it and would never choose to be without it. My books, my magazines, my music, my direct means of communication to my friends and loved ones - all wrapped up in an easily transportable package. Why would I choose to go without it? Guest Ot**w***og****n Report post Posted June 25, 2013 Being a minimalist I have no difficulty in living without modern technology. I have quite a few electric guitars and a couple of amplifiers, yet I prefer playing my acoustic guitars. I listen to the radio in the mornings to get caught up on the news, weather and sports, but it's not necessary. I can live without politics. I used to have access to a small cottage near a river years ago. It didn't even have indoor plumbing, only electricity....I always enjoyed my time there without much of anything. I'm happy reading a good book or sitting quietly enjoying nature. Wilderness camping is wonderful as well. It's nice just to get away from it all. Athos 108589 Report post Posted November 23, 2013 There's s difference between what you"can't" live without, and what you "wouldn't want" to live without. Like many of the people in this thread, I use and depend on the internet and technology for work, pleasure, entertainment, news, information, etc., etc. But could I live without it. yes, absolutely. Do I want to. Not for a second. Porthos
