Two Thirty 1422 Report post Posted July 3, 2013 Thank you, Emily J, for posting Nikki Thomas' op ed. A well thought out piece... ... but too bad that only the literate will grasp the logic of her argument, since it is the illiterate in the general population whose ignorance and fear of this human rights matter needs to be overcome. Yes, of course the judges of the Supreme Court of Canada are highly literate, but I have concerns about what the politicians, who come from the general population, will do with the SCOC ruling. BrettonWoods 4365 Report post Posted July 4, 2013 We should all be thankful for Nikki's advocacy. Her fearless, articulate and persuasive style is what will get results. The sadness is that there are so many brilliant voices that can not be heard but who know the truth. I hope someday Nikki will be seen like Henry Morgentaler - condemned during the fight but a respected hero in the end.
Midnite-Energies 110563 Report post Posted July 7, 2013 Very well said and SO true Bretton. Nikki is a true gem and such a positive and articulate voice. Times are slowly changing and it's each and every positive voice that is making the change. it's a slow process because changing long held beliefs and perspectives is never easy especially when sex comes into the topic of discussion. We are getting there and hopefully there will be good news coming soon. Nikki, keep being fabulous!
