Guest S***e Report post Posted September 11, 2009 I live close to the Champlain Bridge so heading to the other side doesn't cause me any inconvenience at all. I've visited many fine ladies across the bridge. No worries. I know Hull, Aylmer and old Gatineau quite well. Old Spike
GHT 798 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 I have no issue with the Quebec side. I work in Hull and Live in Ottawa. I like to see SPs after work and before going home or before hanging with friends. I will often choose and SP that is on my way so I can limit my rush hour travel time. teched 418 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 I have gone to Quebec to see providers in the past, but now I find that there is a good selection of providers, actually more in Ottawa. So now I will generally avoid crossing into Quebec. There is no need. Obviously, I live in Ottawa.
Andee 220524 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 Question on the different laws that might apply. Are the laws different across the river. Stripclubs regulations are different!! How about escort laws?? Since escort laws come under the criminal code (federal), they are the same. But Quebec has always been more tolerant of the sex industry. When I was a kid, it was nothing to see nudie calendars hanging in people's kitchens in their camps (cottages). My anglo friends from Ontario would have been shocked. Perhaps it was the European influence, I don't know. Most swear words in French are artifacts of the church, not the body, so I believe that's why you see a lot of dancers and escorts coming out of Quebec. They don't see it a dirty and disgusting like the more conservative anglos did. That's my opinion anyways. Don't want to open up a huge debate about that, it was just my experience growing up in Quebec and seeing strip clubs and go go bars and my parents not being offended and trying to cover our eyes as we drove by these places. Couldn't believe when I moved to Toronto in the 70s, how conservative and dull it seemed to be compared to Montreal. So I would agree with Jason, that it's probably more tolerated there. Even with the street girls, girls who used to work Vanier moved over to Eddy Street because there's less hassle for them.
Guest Report post Posted September 12, 2009 I find that I have had no problems. Getting clients to cross the bridge. Some are happy because they live in the Quebec side. It is just like everything else. Your not going to make everyone happy. I do pay less money in rent but I find. That the area I live in is much safer and much clear. Than a lot of places in Ottawa. I guess I'm just lucky. It is very hard to find a cheep safe place. I also find that I agree with Angela. Out in the Quebec side it is so much better for the sex industry. Just the way I like it. No judgment and more fun.
Andee 220524 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 I didn't know you lived on the Quebec side, Peachy. Thanks for the feedback. It's like you said, you can't please everybody. I am currently in Orleans with an alternate location in Bayshore. Turns out when I'm in the west, clients from the east complain and vice-versa. I can't win! Thanks all. dexterS3 134 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 How lucky am i to cross the bridge to go and visit an S.P very lucky here in Ottawa or Hull there all the same I think that we are lucky to have both sides but if I enjoyed our time together it wouldn't matter if you went over to other country lol. At the end of the day you need to do what best for yourself.
shymale 10234 Report post Posted September 12, 2009 for me it's the lady and not the location that make me choose, all the better if it's close to home. i'm on the quebec side and i saw ladies on both side of the bridge.

Guest f***nds4f** Report post Posted September 13, 2009 Although I worked in Hull for few years, I still avoid acrossing the bridge to see SP expect buying cheap beer there. Only visited SP twice close to the river. Tons of girls on Ottawa side I haven't visited, so don't border to go.
Loki318 1631 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 Reading this thread has been very hourmous for me. you guys talk about visiting one city from another that is just a drive across the bridge like itis a huge inconvience... For me to visit an SP I have to plan or fake a business meeting that requires me to stay over night, then have to take a 2 hr ferry ride to get to the mainland, pay for a hotel in a small citsy that is an hr drive from the ferry, and to get to a city that has any decent selection (Halifax) expand that driveing time to 5 hrs.. \lol If I had the financial reserves and the convience and varity of Owatta/Hull I would die with a SMILE on my face a mile wide in a very short time LOL I must add that recently 1 incall has opend in SJ and that dose add to convience ..... One can only hope that this new fad ""incall" catches on with other SPs :) Loki318

Akhenaton 221 Report post Posted September 13, 2009 Actually, part of your perception is correct, at least from the legal aspect. Quebec operates under the Civil code, which while "compatible" has some significant differences to the rest of Canada. Also, historically (or so the records tell us, at least after the 60's, lol) Quebec (possibly because it's "French"...) is more open and mature sexually (so they say...) so that maybe why you feel some of the things you do. You should also know that it was because of an incident in Quebec, that private clubs and parties have gained some extra freedom... That being said, if the place you go to is due for a bust, Quebec, Ontario or anywhere else plates won't save you... I have seen the occasional SP in Gatineau/Hull, but I prefer to do business on the Ont side simply cuz it's closer. Also risks of stings/robbery more manageable if in my home prov (that's probably just a delusion - but I like it). I somehow always feel like I'm leaving Canada when I venture over to the other side. I hope my opinion doesn't spawn a wild debate over whether Quebec is part of Canada. Just wanted to add that I feel that the Que powers of darkness are out to get Ont visitors. Guest Ou**or**n Report post Posted September 14, 2009 To me its not about distance but rather how complicated is it to find and is there parking. I don't have a GPS and need to lookup driving direction before I leave. I find that the people of Quebec are more open and out-going but there is little doubt that Ontario plated cars are more apt to be ticketed (so don't speed). You also need to be aware that vehicle licenses expire at the start of the month in Quebec but on your birthday in Ontario so watch out (always renew your plates before the start of the month in which they expire). The cops in Quebec love to cruise parking lots early each month and ticket the Ontario plated cars. Same stuff happens here in Ontario. How many horrific car crashes have ever happened on the Avation Parkway to warrant the RCMP manpower deployed near the CMHC building to catch speeders. Andee 220524 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 It is kind of silly that there are people from Ottawa who have this fear of crossing the bridge, afraid they'll get lost, ticketed or fined for speeding. I suppose it you don't know an area, yes there is a chance you'll get lost. As for ticketing, of course if you're parked illegally or speeding, of course you risk getting ticketed, but all those things apply to Ottawa as well. My friend who was going to get the apartment does not speak one word of French, so she is looking on the Ottawa side. Thanks for the feedback. It was an interesting balance. I, for one am quite content in Orleans, which people used to complain was "so far away", which I laugh at, because I have timed it from the Nicholas ramp on the 417 to my house at 15 minutes. Thankfully that attitude is changing as the burbs continue to grow around Ottawa. As for having to deal with distance and traffic, try living in Toronto, in then we'll talk.... Stagg 100 Report post Posted September 14, 2009 I wouldn't cross the bridge because I am always worried about the chance of getting caught in traffic
d*mm*y 887 Report post Posted September 17, 2009 For years My family has had cottages and chaletes in Quebec, I spent tons of time in Gatineau park and on both the Gatineau and Ottawa rivers and lakes like McGregor lake. Sometimes venturing to in-laws places at Mount Trembleant or dirty weekends at Chateau Montebello. Quebec has been a play place for me and my family for generations. Take a walk through Mackenzie King estates if you want to feel the history of the area. Recently I took the plunge, the kids have grown up and moved out, my big house in the Alta-Vista area was getting to huge to keep clean, and I have upped and moved to the cottage. I am an anglophone, can't speak french if my life depended on it. In my area it has not been an issue and there are many other anglophones, and francophone's are very patient. I don't think the tax thing will be a big deal as I own an Ontario corporation. (anyone concerned with taxes will be able to follow the implications) and my wife does not work. Everyday I wake up and feel like I am in the country, I am sitting on 10 acres of wooded hillside running down into the Gatineau river. I get in my car drive for 30 seconds and bam I get a spectacular view of the city, 8 minutes later I am in the market. I am about 7 or 8 minutes away from Gatnieau park and Camp Fortune, 4-5 minutes from the Casino or from Le Nordic Spa. I just can't picture it being any better. Oh ya and the house was half the price of a box in Orleans or kanata. You can take a zero off waterfront on the Ottawa side and guess what I paid for my piece of heaven :) The irony is that I am within a 10th of a kilometer the same distance to down town as my old place in Ottawa that everyone thought was so "central" now my friends and family are alwasy carfeul to qualify any invitations with "if you can make the drive in" I just smile, the best part is they don't want to "drop in and visit" anymore. Well accept for my Daughter who now thinks this is her new "base camp" for weekend fun, I make her pitch a tent !! At the end of the day places like Aylmer are far away! they are after all across the river from Britannia beach, Point Gatineau is the end of the earth being across from Orleans, Chelsea is as far out of Down Town as Westborough, and Campfortune is as far north as Hunt Club is south. So unless you are packing an overnight bag best to avoid the Quebec side. AH ya and I forgot to mention with only 5 bridges and 2 ferries access is limited! jerican 657 Report post Posted September 17, 2009 As long as it is not the deepest darkest corners of gatineau I have no problem. Heck when I still frequented Strip Clubs I would rather go to Pigales then Bare Fax as parking was free and it actually took less time to get there from my neck of the woods. Just like in Ottawa if it is in a nice hotel or building there are no issues where I am concerned. If the EP is someone I want to see I will see them in Ottawa or Hull/Gatineau. ekimout 188 Report post Posted September 17, 2009 I have no problem crossing the bridge to see an MP, SP, or even to enjoy one of the strip clubs. A great experience is worth the trip.
Andee 220524 Report post Posted September 18, 2009 Dummpy...your last post was right on...it's hilarious actually, but you have it made. If people think you're so far away, you have little to fear from drop in guests (especially those pesky uninvited types) Best kept secret...sssh!
