McGuinessDraft 2240 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 Not sure if this has come up, but I'm wondering if there is any SPs who have also been in the film industry and are comfortable commenting on the differences. In my mind the essence of film vs. encounter are 2 completely different things, acting in one and connecting in the other. However at the same time there is parallels. A good connection on camera would make for better porn right? I think every guy has dreamed of being in porn at one time or another, I'm just curious how it compares to an encounter. Is there more pressure with the camera? How well do you typically know the co star? Is it really just acting in the movies that's turned at a switch? Does doing one give you an advantage in the other? What does everyone else think...
LuxeMulvari 65764 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 Everyone in porn does AIM testing, which is a special kind of testing that can detect HIV within 14 days of infection (regular testing can take up 6 months to show HIV) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adult_Industry_Medical_Health_Care_Foundation Your test results contain either your passport or driver's license number as indentification, so that way when you're on set no one can use false papers that say they are clean. I had to go to Detroit to get mine done (was living in Windsor at the time), it was always very pricey (about 300$ a hit). Then they gave me my special papers to use on set. So in porn, it's much safer and I'm willing to to uncovered services as I know my partner is clean, whereas with escorting I'm a total safe GFE, as there is no way of knowing my partner status, and i'm not going to take chance. With porn, you also get a say in your partner, so you can pick someone you're attracted to. With escorting, the gent picks you, so you never know who you are going to see :) It's alot of work and usually is many takes before you get the shot. I always laugh when i watch porn as i can tell when she's into it and when she's like "omg get the shot already i had enough" or " im really not feeling it but i need get paid so OH OH OH" Porn is fun lol but another world completely................
Taylor, Olivia Devine 16934 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 Ive always been so interested in doing the porn thing as i watch a lot of it myself and tend to film a lot of my own intimate sessions with a significant other (at their will of course) ;P
Elle Diablo 1345 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 So would "PSE" then mean to have multiple takes between shots? (lol) I am so glad I came across this thread because it's of some interest to me also. I know what "GFE" means in this business, I think what I offer my patrons is exactly that ... an intimate rendez-vous, but I am confused with what men are expecting when they ask for a porn star experience. Because of what Luxe Mulvari said above about choosing co-stars and the many takes during shooting just to get the scene right ... how can someone recreate that in a hh or h session with a complete stranger? gc1968 2033 Report post Posted July 19, 2013 I just assumed PSE meant there was about 12 guys standing around with "semi's" trying to look like they belonged there so they could watch the action

Carrie Moon 68826 Report post Posted July 22, 2013 I have shot a fair bit of porn both here in Canada and in LA. Some of it (like the rest of life) I enjoyed and some I did not. What I mostly dislike about porn that differs from escorting is the extreme lighting that is needed on set.. it gets very very hot and you end up covered in sweat by the time the shoot is over. Also you need to get a good 10-15 min or more sometimes of each position rather than just going with the flow and enjoying yourself. Most partners on set I met 5 minutes before shooting. Most were great to work with... and I met some fantastic people who welcomed me with open arms to the industry before I had 'proven' myself.. so that was a really pleasant aspect. I loved my time in LA.. pornstar karaoke being my favorite weekly venue on a Tues night. Porn doesn't pay well compared to escorting now.. especially with the all the free downloading so I don't keep up with it much. Running my own porn site was way more work than it was worth so I don't do that either anymore. I've seen many sites come and go so other people in the industry have found the same thing but many keep trying. In order to make a living you really have to shoot content that is available new online every single day. The sites that still do well upload new content 3 times or more/day to keep their subscribers happy. I enjoy my escorting business more for that reason alone.. I can relax.. one-on-one or 2-on-one :) in the privacy of my big cool A/C room with my comfy king size bed.

Im glad you mentioned that because thats one thing that has completely changed in the past few years. Availability is alot easier than it was before, and I think the clientele who would typically be interested in subscribing somewhere has gone down significantly. Its so much easier to watch something for 5 min on YouPorn then to pay X amount of money to stream. Its almost as if the 2 industries have changed places. Thanks for your response! Awesome info! Honestly I think the fetish porn is the best avenue at this point. Clients there have very specific interests and will send you script ideas. I really only do custom videos now and then post them on clips4sale if they appeal to a larger viewing audience as well. With specific and fetish requests they can't get what they want on free sites as much so you have a niche in that case. It's very hard otherwise to compete with 'free' :) I constantly have fans asking when I'm going to shoot more porn but they are 95% the ones who view it on free sites so they don't hire me for custom. Then I also have the rare client who wants to shoot himself in a video.. that works well for me for an extra fee.

FootFetishTess 1261 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 I've done a little bit of fetish video work, and a fair bit of still work (photography). In my case, I'm usually shooting with private clients (rather than for a ppd website, for example), whether it's for someone's personal "inspiration file" or something that will be more publically available, so I find that the work is a lot like being a fetish provider in terms of the emotional labour and activities involved. The difference frequently boils down to questions like: Is the person who's licking my heel (a) another model, or (b) the person who's paying me? :-)
McGuinessDraft 2240 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Are stills easier to pull off than video?
FootFetishTess 1261 Report post Posted July 24, 2013 Re: Stills easier than video: Yes, they definitely are! No sound on and no acting/script to worry about.
Carrie Moon 68826 Report post Posted July 25, 2013 I actually find stills a lot of work. Staying stiff in an uncomfortable position to get the right shot is almost harder.. I love the results though. I started with some magazines and I also had to assist the photographer with the light meter. Very time consuming as well. In order to get 250 shots that they end up choosing 25 from it takes about 2-3 hrs for one shoot. In both cases there's a lot of prep as well.. whereas with escort appts there's 15-20 min most times (assuming shower is already done of course).

I get the impression than many porn-stars do escorting or cam-shows or other stuff on the side; as you say, they pay better. I'm even wondering if we're getting to the stage where porn will become more of a marketing avenue for people's other activities, rather than a revenue stream in its own right. After all, if you've got an AVN award or two you can probably hike your rates a fair bit :)

I was actually at a stripclub where one of the dancers mentioned the fact that she did porn in order to peak our interests in going for a dance. Ultimately the businesses seem to overlap on many levels. Thanks for all the input so far!
