Guest webothscore Report post Posted August 23, 2013 I like so many categories, but for driving, alternative rock or modern country, even some older country.
Surf_Nazis_Must_Die 8958 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 NICE! Gotta have tunes going while driving I find I have be careful what selections get listened to in the car as music can have a direct effect on my foot and it's distance to the floor of the car. Generally Jack Johnson or Ben Harper to reduce murderous thoughts while i'm stuck in traffic. Windows rolled up and singing without shame would have to be Elton John and Poison (or Reel Big Fish covering Poison) An open Highway ahead of me or late at night tends to be Metal or Punk as the speed limit is much higher, or in the case of late night, less people are out.. Lately Gama Bomb, Municipal Waste, Pennywise and Good Riddance have been in heavy rotation. Probably my favorite guilty pleasure that i'll listen to in pretty much any situation would be Open Road Song by Eve 6

Guest ***nsut***jr Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Funny that you started this thread today Cleo.... I was driving home this morning at about one listening to The Chain by Fleetwood Mac off the remastered Rumours recording. Dark backroads and I'm lucky enough to have a great surround sound in my truck. Pretty cool so i thought about what else would sound really good. Depends on the mood though, Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road is a favourite Dire Straits, Telegraph Road A lady got me listening to Pink, Ave Mary A which sounds great driving too. So many more to think about

McGuinessDraft 2240 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Either Dropkick Murphys "The Meanest of Times" or Foo Fighters "Wasting Light" Both awesome albums. Typically I like to have a mix of stuff on. Also a HUGE Sinatra fan so when I want to roll the sleeves down on occasion Frank will help get me there.
Surf_Nazis_Must_Die 8958 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 Did anyone else used to painstakingly make mix tapes for their car? Even as cd burning and mp3 players rose in popularity I still stuck by my old cassettes. God I miss the cassette deck in my old car, I'd probably still be making bloody tapes!

Motorbykerider 4754 Report post Posted August 23, 2013 I am HUGE lover of independent Canadian music and have a playlist on CBCRadio3. I have bought every song on it through iTunes. When I go for long rides, I listen to all of them and at over 300 songs, it can take a while. Otherwise, I listen to podcasts while driving the car.

oldblueeyez 15475 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 These days I find myself driving in silence; it has become a form of pseudo-meditation for me. Am I getting old?
Philander39 3705 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 For my long rides I try to have the following CDs in the car Jackson Browne - Running on Empty Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska and/or Born to Run Steve Earle - Exit 0 and/or Guitar Town Oh Susanna - Johnstown Sarah Harmer - Songs for Clem and/or You were Here Kathleen Edwards - Failer Jimmy George - A month of Sundays (only the local Ottawa lads will remember these guys - Long live the Duke of Somerset !!) Every one of these were an essential part of some memorable trip.
Tallguy007 4172 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 I also have some mixed discs (heck, a while back I'd do crossfades between the tunes with matching beats, à la DJ). Some of my favorites (i.e.: those I can remember by name after all this time): Massive / Utah Saints Supermoves / Overseer Fuel / Metallica Spybreak / Properllerheads The Chauffeur / Deftones Chop Suey / System of a Down
royalflush131313 3480 Report post Posted August 24, 2013 I guess it sometimes depends on my mood or if I'm in stop and go city traffic. I sometimes listen to 80's Hairnation on the satellite but my all-time favourite highway driving song is Enter Sandman by Metallica. The downside is I tend to go way over the speed limit when it's playing!
