Cleo Catra 178382 Report post Posted August 25, 2013 Anything by White Zombie is DANGEROUS driving music! You find yourself doing freakin' ridiculous speeds without even realizing it! I used to get into tons of trouble driving while listening to them lol] I'm like that with SLAYER. My best friend won't let me put them on when I drive.

ottawa56 212 Report post Posted August 26, 2013 I'm a huge fan of 80's music while driving - especially anything in the hairband category. But, I think my favourite driving song might be Running Down a Dream by Tom Petty

Tallguy007 4172 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 This thread got me to look at the other discs I had in the car. Aside from some various mixes, I re-discovered the disc with the Grand Theft Auto Vice City radio stations (complete with fake slumbers, fake ads, and fake talk shows). Really weird to drive in real life to tunes associated with driving in a video game.
castle 38816 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 Slightly overplayed but always a fun driving song is Black Sabbath-Paranoid Also, and Alice Cooper - Run Down The Devil and Oh! And (fuck it....anything by Motörhead is excellent driving music lol) Goddamn this thread reaaaaaaally makes me want to go out and get my license back!! (with this kind of soundtrack I probably wouldn't keep it for long though lol) :D
Gabriella Laurence 301887 Report post Posted August 29, 2013 It usually depends on my mood but one that never gets old is Steve Miller! It always reminds me of the road trip I took with some good friends of mine to Kennebunkport in Maine. Happy memories! :)

Jabba 18389 Report post Posted August 30, 2013 Sometimes I like mood music. Great song for driving at night. Lyrics are kind of stupid, but typical for the early 70s. Instrumentation & sound effects are pretty cool IMO & slightly ahead of its time. Philander39 3705 Report post Posted August 30, 2013 I have notice that the type of music depends greatly on the type of road that is being traveled. Many of the recommendations are great for big highways. Way back in my previous life I did a lot of driving to New Brunswick. Many times I took a short cut through Maine as the construction was so bad along the Trans Canada (or TCH for the newfies here) in NB at the time. I buddy lent me a mix tape (yes it was that long ago LOL) of bluegrass tunes. In the rolling Appalachian mountains along the border of Maine and NB the music just felt right and I felt I could drive for days. Later on for work a crew of us had to drive down to Alabama. When it was my turn to drive we were taking a short-cut through Blue Ridge mountains. I loaded up my mix tape of bluegrass and we on our way. Most of the guys were metal heads but they all thought this was the best damn music for driving in the mountains. AC/DC, Slayer, etc were best left to when we got back on the interstates.
