Floyd 130 Report post Posted October 19, 2009 I don't see any recommendations or detail on those listed in the Herald. I am wondering if there is a specific reason for this. I would imagine that one reason is that there is no transparency in those paper ads. Just a lot of enticing words and the potential for, when you do meet, you may find yourself in an awkward position perhaps. Has anyone had to use the good old brush-off excuse when Jabba The Hut appears and you have absolutely no choice but to reply: "well, what an unpleasant and blood-curdling surprise. Now if you'll excuse me, my salad is getting cold"? This is a frightening reality I would say. I know I'd be rather prompted to exit stage left in such an incident.
Emma Alexandra 123368 Report post Posted October 19, 2009 "well, what an unpleasant and blood-curdling surprise. Mister C 1725 Report post Posted October 19, 2009 I did visit with Karlie who has an ad in the Herald. She is also a CERB member but doesn't post much. She is a petite treat for sure.
Floyd 130 Report post Posted October 19, 2009 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder is it, Emma? Well, you are certainly beautiful (when I say certainly I mean ABSOLUTELY); but what I wrote up there above doesn't necessarily relate to appearance. It is the character/personality of some. That's all. There is deception involved with some I am told. However, in my lack of experience here in Halifax I can only go by what I am told. A woman's beauty can be tarnished by the smallest incidents. For instance, her showing up smelling like men's cologne. Not one hair on her head pointing in the same direction. Or, saying hello with a wide smile and there are chuncks of pepperoni caught between a few teeth here and there. Not that this has happened to me, but you really just don't know. Again, I am told of things like this happening to others and it is frightening. A read a lot about etiquette, and what women require of men. Be clean, be nice, be relaxed, be humble, be horny, and be on your way when it's done ... that sort of thing. I would prefer to meet someone who illustrates etiquette and is willing to communicate to ensure that the experience is excellent. Maybe I watched too many reruns of The Waltons in my youth. I dunno. Lastly, what does TOFTT mean for fack sakes?

Floyd 130 Report post Posted October 19, 2009 Hi Emma, You intrigue me. Nice twins, by the way! I stumbled upon a couple of posts not long ago from you. Something about a "chair". I certainly hope that it doesn't require electricity, or anything pseudo-erotic . TOFTT. Take one for the team.. Ok. So if I get mangled by some 400 lb gorilla named Ke-Yootzy, are there any disability benefits that come with this coined tag line?

Personally I believe with the quality of ladies now available to us here on cerb (Emma,Amelia and others) and ladies like Emily and others visiting us on a semi-regular basis the only reason to visit "the herald girls" would be a attempt to duplicate the experience at at discounted rate. Good luck with that!
Guest C**Tra****er Report post Posted October 22, 2009 That's all well and fine to try something new, but the experience you get with Amelia and Emma is not going to be found at a "discounted rate". Floyd 130 Report post Posted October 22, 2009 The original message was not a rate issue. It was more or less a think-out-loud (brainfart) into what paper ladies are all about. I just hear about them and wonder why they aren't here on Cerb. If they are of good personality and service, why would they hide behind paper? If paper ladies charge less than others, well that is their gig. Quite frankly, a low rate in any sense to me means low service value and quality. I would agree with you there, Red. Service marketing descriptives such as "budget", "discount", "specials", "buy one get one free", and that sort of language intertwined in business illustrates something that I tend to avoid. I like to get to know someone, not everyone. I have time for someone. Comfort and mutual exchange without commitment or expectation. Value is the friendship - relationship. This is because I seek someone that will be a friend with lots of other benefits rather than an hour of something here and there, and totally fake. When I say fake I mean the role play that service providers may have to action in order to make the recipent feel that there is value and quality based on his/her expectation. I don't dig human commodification. It is two people hanging out and doing what ever the fack they want and exchanging common interest and friendship along the way. So, a service provider who prefers to keep it business and only business, some people prefer that. I prefer to have 1 pal and remove service from the equation, but share in mutual benefit in friendship. Ok folks, put your fiddles away. It is good for this sort of thing to be put out there in case some "service providers" actually want what I just described.
Guest W***ledi*Time Report post Posted October 22, 2009 I'm a Cerb guy. Having said that, Cerb is not such a high-profile community that new ladies will automatically know that it even exists. The world does not revolve around us! Nor do all ladies want to participate here anyway, for one reason or another -- for example, some ladies know all about the disrespectful type of treatment doled out on certain of "the boards" (not Cerb), and therefore they want nothing to do with any board. The CH, on the other hand, is Nova Scotia's Newspaper and everyone is familiar with it. It's an obvious place for ladies to advertise (and which ads reach more potential clients for the ladies anyway; Cerb or Herald?). There are much worse media to use; classifieds published in "The Paper" (as Bluenosers call it) are at least paid for by the advertiser, yes? Many Cerb ladies (past and present) have advertised there. Anyone who advertises in the CH obviously has to follow their content policy, so no -- you will not find transparently "juicy" come-ons or lurid photos in the ads of the CH. This fact is a simple function of the newspaper's content policy, so it is not necessarily an indictor of "blood-curdling" "400-lb gorillas" practicing "deception" on gullible readers. The whole point (correct me if I'm wrong) of TOFTT is The Team. Hobbyists who find a lovely lady through the CH or elsewhere can not only "report back" to Cerb about her (the traditional idea of TOFTT), but can inform the lady about Cerb and the positive aspects of our community here, as opposed to other boards. In this second sense, to TOFTT is to also attract new ladies to Cerb, where their participation will hopefully benefit them -- and also enrich the existing Cerb community, thereby benefiting us too. There are a number of current (and past) Cerb ladies who were "recruited" (if you will) to Cerb by cerbite client-ambassadors who encouraged the ladies to join Cerb. No matter how wonderful any community is, its roots must be continually renewed or it will eventually wither on the vine. If every guy were to stick to only "known" ladies, eventually the inevitable attrition of the business would leave no "known" choice remaining. Guys who TOFTT and simultaneously preach the Cerb Gospel to unconverted ladies are performing a very important role -- although often a decidedly unrewarding and unthanked one, of course. Each and every lady is unique. The experience with any of them cannot be duplicated, as the honourable members have rightly pointed out here. As for the stigma of "discounted" rates, or any variation in rates among the ladies, there is certainly a correlation, but no foolproof law of correspondence, between rate and quality of experience. (One of my own most cherished ladies was also shockingly low-priced and was not very interested in exploring the possibilities offered by the Cerb community.) In a nutshell: One need not flippantly dismiss out-of-hand the Herald Girls as a group.
