Something I wanted to bring up, mainly towards the Sps on this board is this is a time of the year when there are some people that are desperate for cash and might look at escorts, (especially Incalls) as an easy way to grab cash. We have had issues in previous years with this and I think its something we should all have our eyes open for.

 

Some personal suggestions is have someone to call in and out after you see a client. Just to let them know someone is watching.

 

Also keep as little cash around as possible, I have heard horror stories of some ladies getting thousands stolen and totally destroying their Xmas fund.

Just how common is this? I believe it has happened and could happen but thinking back, I have been an escort since 1995, have worked with many agencies and SPs over the years and have never known this to happen to anyone specifically around Christmas.

 

Your suggestion was a good one. Also, more importantly, don't let guys know how "busy" you are - which is to say how many calls you had so far that day (or week) and never carry or keep large amounts of cash around. That's just common sense.

 

This reminds me of a story I heard that was going around a couple of years ago concerning an SP who had $65K stashed in a coffee can and let a client see her put the money in there. I am not saying she deserved to be robbed, but c'mon - that was not very smart.

 

In short, we all need to be attentive to our surroundings and who we talk to and be careful about what we talk about, specifically how many calls or how much money we have made recently and not be flashing wads of cash around.

I would advise the clients the same precaution as we also have some savory ladies out there as well.

When I go to an outcall, I always check in/check out with my driver. Even though they do not hover around waiting right in front of the place, the client knows someone else is aware of me being there.

 

As for in-calls, because I work only days and tend to get the business man or family man and make sure I have a number for them which if anything was to ever happen to me, that number could be found on my phone record.

 

I have had very few try to pull anything funny on me. (Over the years a few have tried to short me, or say they had to go to the car to get the money (money first, then the service, buddy). Once someone tried to switch the money with Canadian Tire money, but I now count and put my money away and don't let them see where I'm putting it..

 

Most SPs I know who have been robbed have been ripped off by other SPs, or so-called boyfriends or friends, not clients.

 

At this stage of my life, I would not be sharing a room with anyone who would steal from me. If they did, it would only be once that's for sure.

These are the things I do with pretty much all of my clients.

 

I take my purse with me into every room we both go into or I go into alone (i.e. the bathroom). I had a client ask why I was being so silly to bring most of my things with me everywhere I go. I tell him politely "this is simply a precaution I take with any situation, and i really need my eyedrops, lol"....and sometimes I do the playful thing when I bring my purse into the bedroom, saying,"just in case I have something in this we may need".....always want to have condoms close by but sometimes I also may have other fun things in my purse we may need....lube, massage oil....and oh, I dunno, the desire to keep my belongings in my view at all times :)

 

if I have time enough between calls, I make sure I run money to a bank-machine or home or ask for a room with a safe if I'm doing ins. I rarely take call after call when I do hotel-incalls so the possibility of putting the money somewhere off-site is always a priority if the client I'm seeing next is brand new or isnt a trusted regular (and by trusted I mean, I know where he works, his home address etc, his full name etc... should he decide to rob me).

as for safety calls, I dont say driver or "guy" or anything of the sort. I just say "theres a close friend that knows where I am and what I'm doing, and I always text her when I'm safe, where I am (exact details) and when I leave and arrive somewhere alone...."trusted friend" and "her" rings better than "driver" or industry related person or even "guy" (potential pimp in their minds....which could scare off anyone)....saying its just a friend who looks out for you sways the average joe not to worry too much.....if hes still concerned that someone knows where you are and makes a fuss out of it, then you have a problem....make it clear that they are potentially disrespecting your wishes or get out FAST

Annessa, your little red flag came up for a reason - he probably figured since he booked you later in the evening that you would be stacked with cash from the day's earnings. Like you suggested, it may have been nothing, but it's strange he did cut the session short.

 

When I arrive at an outcall, after taking care of the business part, I tell the client I have to make a quick call to the person who will be picking me up to confirm to them how long I will be (this is my way of checking in). While I'm making my call, I tuck my money away in a non-obvious spot.

 

Like you Annessa, I never bring money into a call. The driver will call me on my cell if I am not out within 5 minutes of the call being ended, but I usually end up calling them. I've never had any problems with safety or being ripped of where I needed to call in any backup.

 

If the client asks who is picking me up, I just say a friend because you're right, they might get skittish.

 

I am very fortunate in that I have known the owner and most of the guys from the driving service I use for over 5 years and can trust them implicitly. They never come to the door or hover around outside, so there it is very discrete.

 

I think using common sense and paying attention to our spidey senses is the key to minimizing or preventing things happening.

As a client, I expect an SP to confirm something to somebody on an outcall. I think this is a security activity and demonstrates the SP is a professional who knows how to take care of herself. Totally normal in my view. Same thing on an incall for an agency SP. For an independant SP, Annessa's friend routine is good. You can never be too careful.

We hear about this more then I would like to admit (Not just a Christmas but I suspect it is a more popular time for would be thieves to prey on the ladies)

 

EVERY year (Not just Ottawa - Winnipeg and Vancouver seam to be the worst with Ottawa a close third for reports that we get about this).

 

We hear about this happening from at least 2 of our clients each year and when you think about it... that is a lot for us (since we are just the advertising company for the ladies) we usually only hear about it when the lady gets so scared and shaken up over it that she needs to pull her ads and take time off! How many times does it happen without us ever hearing about it? I have had ladies call just in tears asking us to remove her ad because she needs to take time off to recover from being robbed... The traumatic stress would be hard to deal with and even worse some even tell us they were physically assaulted.

 

Back when I answered the phones for escorts-canada I use to always try to help. I would be sure to ask the lady if she insisted on using caller ID (No blocked calls) and that she called back to confirm each number (Make sure it was not a payphone or some stolen phone - call back to verify before the date to make sure he answers the phone).. In EVERY instance the answer was always no, they did not bother screening calls. I like to hope that they all do now after I explain how people would prey on those who did not take these extra safety precautions.

 

I think the thieves who do this are going to cold call (shop around) to find the "Easy prey".

 

I have even heard from a few ladies that the guy paid them, they did their thing and then he robbed her not only taking back him money but everything else he could get from her.

 

We have some horrible people in this world and fortunately these people are far and few between but they do exist and they do prey on others... and the minute you let your guard down could be the minute they show up.

 

Theft and assault can (and does) happen in pretty much every business and no one is really safe... but in this industry because of the laws that govern here in Canada it makes the ladies even more vulnerable and makes it a much easier target to be exploited.

 

Did you know you can "Spoof" a phone number on caller ID (Making people see a number that looks legit and is not) - always CALL BACK that number showing on caller ID - tell the guy you will call him back within the hour before the meeting (or something like that) your instincts on her response should pretty much say it all.

 

Chances are the guy who plans on robbing someone is not going to take the chance (even with a pre-paid phone) and will probably find someone who does not verify phone numbers to rob. He will probably have some lame excuse for not having a verifiable phone number.. trust your instincts!

 

A lot of ladies choose not to verify phone numbers still to this day. WHY?

 

Some even give out the location of their incall place as well to strangers over the phone without verifying who they really are.

 

If any of the ladies reading this do this you should STOP... you are taking a unnecessary risk and your setting yourself up for being a target for something like this to happen.

A couple of years ago I babysat a pit bull that was an amazing dog, and I ended up taking him on a bit of a road trip. While in Ottawa he would stay in my bedroom while I entertained in the guest suite, but on the road he had to just stay in "the corner". I was shocked at the number of guests who chose to walk out because of it. I'm a "big" dog person so it really threw me. I knew that if he had decided to eat someone I would have a hard time stopping it, he was strong so their fears were not completely unfounded. The poor puppy ended up having to spend his time in the back seat of my car during my guest visits for the duration of my road trip. Thankfully it was mid fall and it wasn't dangerous for him. I agree that there is nothing in the world that says "behave" like a protective pet.

 

The security issue goes both ways, while SPs can be targets, so can guests, not just with incall. Always be careful of who you invite into your home. There have been numerous cases of a girl coming in, scoping things out and a month later someone breaking in and cleaning a place out. I have no first hand knowledge of it in Canada, but at home it was an issue. Know who you are dealing with and only invite SPs who work for a proven agency or are established independents. If you are using a new independent, get a hotel room until you know her. It is well worth the investment.

Altho he was very well behaved and a really sweet dog, he wasn't mine. Being I was a "new" master, I had not yet developed the confidence that he would heel so the car was a good option.

 

As for the thread topic, it always pays to be careful, aware and prepared. Both SPs and guests take a certain amount of risk and when common sense is applied much of it can be alleviated.
