How is Halloween the same as Christmas?

Took me a couple of tries to figure this one out, but here it is:

Basically, Halloween is Oct 31, Xmas is Dec 25.

 

Clue is how is Halloween same as Christmas, inferring some sort of equalness.

 

So Xmas = Halloween. Replace with dates and you get

 

Oct 31 = Dec 25

 

The base is mentioned in the write up, so for those unfamiliar, the world we live in is base 10, so we have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 before repeating.

 

Base 8 would go like this:

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,10,11....

 

 

So

 

1-7=1-7

 

8=10

9=11

10=12

11=13

...

16=20

17=21

18=22

19=23

20=24

21=25

22=26

23=27

24=30

25=31

 

Oct (Base 8) 31 = Dec (base 10) 25
