VedaSloan 119179 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Raimes is a University nickname derived from my last name... 83 is my birth year. Yeah, year of the pig! Me too :) Great idea for a thread, belladonna!Cato was an austere Roman, who criticized the decadent morality of his times. I became Cato on funinaustralia. com, my first board, and the name emigrated with me. Cato the Elder? or the Younger? I picked Erin because when I started working for the agency they said no one would know how to pronounce Lux which is what I had been using up until that point. Erin was what I was almost named in real life. On a dating/sexual advice board I'm a member of, I go by the handle Simone de Boudoir, which is a play on Simone de Beauvoir's name. Cato 160314 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 Cato the Elder? or the Younger? A very good question, Erin. The Younger, for sure.
bucken 1479 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 Mine is not nearly so well thought out as some of the others listed here. It was spur of the moment when signing-up and didn't really think that 'hard' about it. ;)
fortunateone 156618 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 I could not think of a thing, when it came time to create a handle since I had not thought it out beforehand. Fortunately for me, CCR was playing on the radio and the idea that: It ain't me, it ain't me... I ain't no fortunate one. Kind of stuck in my head: handle = anonymous = it ain't me :sm185: I use it on all the boards I join tho. And it is less that I am not fortunate, but that I am the fortunate one to have found such fun folks to communicate with in a biz that is surprisingly solitary much of the time. ;)
ekimout 188 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 You handle always brought to my mind an Inuit person, ekimout. I can see that, but there is no connection.

Mister C 1725 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 My nickname growing up was C. I work with teenagers and instead of calling me C they call me Mister C. Hence the username was born.
YoungStud 468 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 For me, just wanted something distinctive that people would remember. I've mostly worked in media so "good branding" is something of which I'm aware. Lol. Of course, at this stage in my "career", the on-line moniker probably provides an ironically interesting mix of reality, memory and desire. At least for me. Lol. Partly truth (youth? - lol) and partly fiction, to quote a line in a song. But then, life is usually a state of mind. ;-) You be the judge. 8-)
TracieGold 282 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 I wish our "handle" names make so much sense as it does to Buggley......I was in the spur of the moment and I said.."how does Tracie sound? However, I am such and honest freak......all my god all friends know my real name....Lord Help me!:!:
capitalman 3861 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 I'm enjoying this thread... Capitalman - I joined another site like CERB first and wanted people to know I was from Ottawa, Canada's Capital. I decided to keep the name when I joined here. Now I enjoy the nick Capman and although I have some other handles elsewhere in the world, I can't seem to shed this one. Annessa 22743 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 I'm enjoying this thread... Capitalman - I joined another site like CERB first and wanted people to know I was from Ottawa, Canada's Capital. I decided to keep the name when I joined here. Now I enjoy the nick Capman and although I have some other handles elsewhere in the world, I can't seem to shed this one. a modern socialist once said "shedding a new or even old email address or handle is kinda like trying to scrape gum off your shoe that you notice yet has been there for a while" lol that being said I added 2009 to my handle because there was a confusion over a previous SP in Toronto and myself.....so when I joined the boards under my new name, I was told to add something. I always wondered if I should have added a different ending to my handle....or stated a year that has nothing to do with the present ( ex: I've always been a fan of 1984, lol)

PistolPete 61421 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 Little reason behind Pistolpete for ME... yes Pete is my name..the PistolPete came from 2 areas that I enjoy in life 1) sports... all types of course, lately more indoors with ladies! 2) Life stories such as Frank Eaton 1) PistolPete - Is around same height and weight as myself Full Name: Peter Press Maravich Born: 6/22/47 in Aliquippa, Pa. Died: 1/5/88 College: Louisiana State Drafted by: Atlanta Hawks (1970) Transactions: Traded to New Orleans, 5/3/74; Signed with Boston, 1/22/80 Nickname: Pistol Pete Height: 6-5; Weight: 200 lbs. Complete Bio | Summary 2) Pistol Pete New Mexico State’s mascot, known as Pistol Pete, roams the sidelines at Aggie games. But the name Pistol Pete comes from a real western gunman in the late 1800’s named Frank Eaton. As a child, Eaton’s father was killed by the four Campsey brothers and the two Ferber brothers, all members of the Regulators. By the age of 15, Eaton had become a quickdraw and a marksman, but went to Fort Gibson, a cavalry fort in the northeast part of Indian Territory, to improve his shooting skills. It was at the fort where he gained the nickname Pistol Pete. In a fair gunfight in 1881 in Albuquerque, Pistol Pete killed the last of the six men responsible for his father’s murder. BownChickaBown 4829 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 As I mindlessly clicked around the web with more of one thing on my mind than anything else, I stumbled upon cerb and didn't really know what the whole thing was about (with such a great community) in signing-up looking to perv, ...err ...browse... adverts for local service providers. To make a fake name which was not identifiable outside cerb, I quickly came-up with what has been in my head for decades... The Sound of Porn Music... Cheesy Porn Music. Bown-Chicka-BOWN! WOWN!! REEEE-eeee-EEEEE-eeee! (Thrown in with a squeaky bed at the end for good measure.) It's something I picked-up back in the uni dazes and has always stuck with me. After making a few posts and learning more about cerb, I wanted to change it to a better name, but don't believe I can just change names on this account. ...and I didn't want to create a new one after getting this one set-up. Winnipegcub 21293 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 Like some others, I kinda stumbled into CERB and the hobby. Sign Up? Create a Handle? I usually shy away from this cause I think that's the beginning of idenity theft, getting spammed, finding viruses, etc... For some reason unknown to me, my cautious self dove in. Then I wanted something cityish, strong but sweet/kind. I've had strong routes in 2 cities. Where I leave now and where I was born and raised. My youth was in Wpg but left many years ago thus Winnipegcub. I found it is confusing for some as they usually start off, How are things in Winnipeg? Which of course I'm not there. But it does start a conversation. And I really like the cute profile picture...looks just like me. (ha ha)
casinolad 322 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 Mine's very easy...contrary to what some might think, I'm not a gambler..lol...but I do work as a dealer/pit boss in a casino for a living...and it comes up naturally in convos with sp's/mp's a lot, so wanted it to be easy to remember me... Guest S***e Report post Posted December 19, 2009 "Spike" is my childhood nickname. "Old Spike" is my own creation of course due to my age (62). The bulldog avatar is appropriate, therefore, but I'm not built like a bulldog in real life. I do love it when a lovely SP moans, "oooooh Spike!"

daddio 2704 Report post Posted December 19, 2009 "daddio" - previous century's "dude" - see Kerouac "On The Road" reading the other posts I'm thinking that I should have added a bit more of an explanation "daddio" = "dude" It's a reference to "puer aeternus" - "eternal child", otherwise known as the "Peter Pan syndrome. I should just grow up!!
strider1620 110 Report post Posted December 20, 2009 My name is also from Lord of the Rings. Strider is King Aragorn's Ranger name. I've always liked it and have used it as an internet handle before. I always thought King Aragorn was way cooler as a Ranger than as a King. I always tack a semi-random number onto internet names, and this number happens to be a variation of a code that I use all the time.
