Spambot On Kik Messenger,

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is informing the public about a spambot on Kik Messenger, a popular instant messaging application among young people.

 

Based on information reported to Cybertip.ca, it appears that this spambot has requested sexual images from Kik Messenger users and sent explicit contents to users.

 

To help reduce the risk of your child receiving messages of this nature, take time to review the privacy settings available through the app and activate the the Ignore New People option in the app settings. Also ensure your child knows how to block users from contacting her or him through the app.

 

In addition, reinforce with your child there is no need or urgency to respond to any messages and the importance of seeking help about any online concern.
