whatsup 11893 Report post Posted January 17, 2010 From the Jetsons to R2D2, humans have always had a fascination with robots. And it was only a matter of time before someone combined this fascination with another major human preoccupation....sex. At the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas this past weekend, a New Jersey company introduced Roxxxy, the sex robot. Retailing for $7,000-$9,000 (complete with laptop), the life-size rubber doll stands five feet, seven inches tall and weighs 120 pounds and come with various "personalities" from outgoing "Wild Wendy," shy and reserved "Frigid Farrah" matriarchal "Mature Martha" to the more adventurious "S&M Sarah." But Roxxxy's about more than sex. According to Douglas Hines, the artificial intelligence engineer who created her, Roxxxy can carry on simple conversations catered to her owner's interests - "If you like Porsches, she likes Porsches. If you like soccer, she likes soccer" - and responds positively to her owner's touch saying things like "I love holding hands with you" when he touches her hand. She no doubt showers her owner with more positive praise when he touches other body parts. It's disturbing enough that there's a market for guys willing to pay almost $10,000 to have sex with a robot. But even more disturbing is the fact that Roxxxy is a submissive, pliable "woman" who agrees with everything her owner says and caters to his every sex fantasy. Okay, so she can't vacuum or cook, and apparently, she even snores, but according to her creator, "she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean." For guys who have trouble meeting and relating to women, this is no doubt a fantasy come true. But is this really good for men? Wouldn't it be more useful to create a female sex robot who teaches her guy how to become a better conversationalist and lover? What do you think? Do you think sex robots are a good idea? Would you have sex with a robot?
