Guest S****r Report post Posted February 16, 2014 I recently changed website hosts and didn't realize til after I spent days creating a new website that they do not host videos! They require that you use a third party host. Bleh! They suggested youtube, but I don't want my ....personal.....videos out for the general public to see. Can anyone advise me where to place them? That is free? I am already paying quite a bit for a couple of websites, including matureescortsottawa.com, and I don't want my costs to go any higher than necessary. Someone suggested blogger, but I haven't had any success with them. Other suggestions?
Rassilon 982 Report post Posted February 16, 2014 How is that possible that they do not allow video? How would they even know? Do they have the time to review the videos on every website and every change made to every website every day? I would demand my money back and move the domain and files elsewhere and ask for an apology for the misleading advertising calling themselves a web host. If you cannot upload the videos to your own website with them maybe you could point the URLs of the video tags to a second host. Get a second account, but that seems like allot of trouble. Cancelling, setting up an account elsewhere and copying and pasting the files over there would be easiest probably.

Cowboy kenny 50799 Report post Posted February 17, 2014 I agree, a file is a file they are a host that's what you are paying them to do, host your files! So long as your hosting package allows for the increased bandwidth that streaming video requires. The only exception being that they might have a clause regarding, mautre or adult content, but if they are hosting your site and your photos then this should not be an issue. I'm curious to know who is your hosting company? BTW, dropshots is not a viable option as they do not allow adult content.

It's because she is using Wix, as a website building platform, and not actually hosting her own site. So it's all their rules, and Wix does not allow video uploading, only third party embedding. Summer, without getting too complicated, the easiest suggestion I have is Tumblr. It's free, and they are definitely adult friendly, but they do have a daily upload limit. I'm also not sure about embedding there, but you could create a nice little page there with your videos and link to it from your current site. There is some more info on this thread from last year: http://www.cerb.ca/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=118559 As someone who previously had major issues with Blogger/Blogspot, I vehemently recommend against them.
Cowboy kenny 50799 Report post Posted February 18, 2014 Thanks EJ! I didn't even bother to look, yeah wix is not a hosting service. The tumblr option you suggest is probably the most viable solution for a quick fix to Summer's dilemma. +10 points for Emily J!
Guest S****r Report post Posted February 18, 2014 Thanks for all your suggestions, guys! Some of them I had already investigated, and for various reasons, I couldn't use them. I forget why. Probably because it is adult content. I even looked at tumbler and saw some reason it wouldn't seem to work, either. I will look them all over again tomorrow and see. Glad you understand wix, Emily J, as a lot of people give me that reaction--what! How can they not host the videos. sigh......Also, someone else suggested blogger. I went on there and created an account, but every time I tried to upload a video, I got error messages and it wouldn't work. Very frustrating! But tomorrow is a new day, and I will try it all, all over again. Thanks, all!
Midnite-Energies 110563 Report post Posted February 18, 2014 Tumblr doesn't like to host videos because of the bandwidth required to do so. They have so many users that they limit this option. Linking to a host is fine. For hosting.. xtube, xhamster, redtube and pornotube are all options with pros and cons. Redtube is the classiest but it takes forever to upload a video there. Arvixe is a good host site for a website and they do host videos as well, adult content is allowed and prices are reasonable.
Rassilon 982 Report post Posted February 19, 2014 When you said web host I assumed an actual website was being made. Never even thought of that Wix type stuff. Good spotting Emily J. Plenty of people here you can ask for help should you like to move off of Wix.
Guest S****r Report post Posted February 19, 2014 Now I am confused, though. If wix isn't hosting it, who is? Cause it is online. I don't quite understand.
Midnite-Energies 110563 Report post Posted February 19, 2014 Wix is hosting your site but because of the way they are set up, you have to follow their rules. Be warned, they do not like adult content which is why I avoided them and went with escort design instead ...although in the process of setting up my own. Many of these hosting sites either limit what you can or cannot have (such as videos) or limit the amount you can have on your site. They can also shut you down at any point because it's free and their rules.
Cowboy kenny 50799 Report post Posted February 21, 2014 Now I am confused, though. If wix isn't hosting it, who is? Cause it is online. I don't quite understand. It's semantics really Summer. They are hosting it but they only host their platform. They aren't a host in the truest form of the word. Hosts like Fat Cow, Netfirms, go daddy and in my opinion the best mainstream hosting company to allow adult content, Host Gator, excellent customer service and technical support. I suspect you have a paid upgrade account because you don't have all the wix branding that the free sites they offer do, but you might want to check your TOS as they are as midnight massages states fickle about adult content, you might be ok though sometimes these things fly under the radar I know a provider who had a free site with wix for 2 years even had frontal nudity and yet never a peep from them. While tumblr has it's limitations with regard to file size it's probably your best "free" solution. Hosting your videos on Porn Hub or similar services will subject your web visitors to embedded and pop up ads. Good luck with this .
Carrie Moon 68826 Report post Posted February 21, 2014 at godaddy you can buy a site with domain, hosting and basic website setup for $12 for the year! why bother with free templates and then hosting elsewhere. I've used them for several years and their customer service has been great. Alternatively I have used blogger and uploaded videos in the past.and if I had problems uploading videos I don't recall what were the issues.. but I think I may have had with format. They are hosted on google as far as I recall.. but I rarely use them there. I will look into it for you if you need help Summer.. but really the godaddy option is the best. Just pick personal site at $1/month and add a domain at the same time which they will include for free. If you already have the domain and want to move it you'd need to likely contact them first to be sure you do it correctly. Wix is not adult friendly and can pull your site at any time.. FYI. Good luck! Carrie.
Guest S****r Report post Posted February 21, 2014 Thanks, Carrie, but I have already pre-paid for the year at this point, so think it best to stay put for now. Especially after all the work I have put into it. unless they pull it, of course. Then when the time comes, I will move it elsewhere. Too bad. I moved there from a good place, upon the advice of another escort who has been with them a long time. Live and learn. But I appreciate the offer. I am paying more like $12 a month there. Carrie Moon 68826 Report post Posted February 23, 2014 Sure.. I understand.. offer stands to help you with blogger.. or you could consider a 2ndary site with godaddy for the $12 just to host videos :)
