It's a great thing and we all should give our vote. I voted on a couple of petitions on this site a while ago and the only down side is you get unsolicited invites to join other petitions wanting your vote, just something to keep in mind.

i don't mind getting contacted. If i don't want the emails filling up my inbox, i know i can just filter them into a folder to look at some other time, or just delete without reading based on the title.
